Sooooooo ExCiTeD!!!!!!

Hi everyone! I'm new here (it's official ~ got my "ticker" and everything LOL) I lurked for awhile and now, I must say... It's all over ~ I'm hooked! The info. on this board is just incredible!!!
I am happily married for 13 years to my husband Mark and have two terrific children Gabrielle and Tony. Anyway, we've been waiting for the "right time" to take them to Disney and we've decided to do it next spring
~ I booked 4 days at WDW and the 7 day Eastern DCL........ needless to say, I'm going to be spending alot of time on this board
My DH is currently recieving chemo for hodgkins lymphoma which is one of the reasons we decided to book our trip ( gives the kids and us something nice to look forward to when Daddy is all better) his cancer is very treatable and Dr. told us he should be completely cured, however it's going to be a long, difficult spring/summer (six mo. of chemo then radiation) chemo is every other thurs. ~ 3 down so far, 9 to go....
Anyway ~ any disney trip is something MaGiCaL but I really want this to be extra special So ~ with that said, I look forward to getting to know all of you and learn from experience!!! I've already got post-it notes all over the place with tips I've read off this board!!!

Welcome the the DISBoards. You are correct, there is a lot of info here. Don't be afraid to post questions, someone always knows the answers. I, too, had a hubby getting chemo (for lupus) and we went to Disney once in between treatments,(not a great trip) and once after. It takes a while to come back from chemo, so just remember to take it easy. Use all the tips here, they'll save you time and more importantly, energy.

this is a good place to let the real world pause for a moment. you will find tons, and tons of tips for your trip. it was the best thing we did for ours.

one tip that i found super usefull, was to have a ziplock bag for each park, and hotel, (or wherever you go) to hold all the tips for that certain one. that way you aren't looking through a whole stack, or flipping through a notebook.i can't tell you how many times dh and i referred back to the tips i had printed out. it was so easy, as it was marked on the outside, we just pulled that baggie out, and found the hint we were looking for.

Welcome gemjoy, first peice of advice, "Get a notebook!!!" Saves allot of papers all over the place. Believe me, I have one!!! Hope the board gives you not only info, but a way to just "escape" from your difficult time for a while and lots of wonderful ideas to make your well deserved vacation special!!!

I really enjoy planning all the details of our vacation, so this is a nice "outlet" for me ~

I have to admit... I really crack myself up at how "into" this I've already become ~ after all our trip is almost 11 months away
~I've been all over looking for those darn discontinued Brita-Bottles!!
~I purchased 4 disney carpet bags for each of us to use as a carry-on
I'm filling dd and ds's for x-mas with lots of disney related items
~rewarding dd and ds with disney dollars
~Got my "disney folder" going....
~I'm taking full advantage of this great board

You've found a great place. Planning your trip can be very therapuetic for the whole family. During our last trip to WDW, my DH had to go offsite to dialysis treatments several times during our vacation. Nevertheless, planning our trip was therapy in itself. And these boards were a great place to come.

This year, when our family visit WDW, my wonderful DH will be sporting a new kidney (2yrs old) and he is very excited.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of a WDW family vacation is the journey getting there. Welceme aboard

That is great to hear ~ so many times you only hear the bad news... It's nice to see that after the rain there are rainbows...

Mark had chemo Thursday and this morning he's already up and showered ~ it's a sunny day here , it will probably reach 60! His appetite is good ~ in fact he went to the store to get real maple syrup (yumm!) I'm making french toast. Hopefully he can enjoy a little of the day before he needs to take a nap.
