Sooooo bummed!!!

Well...we were supposed to be heading to the Wold in Febuary...NOT HAPPENING.

DH wants to got to NY before he gets deployed next year so that his G-Ma ca meet her great grandbabies. (he doesn't know if she'll make it through the deployment) So...needless to say, Disney will always be there, G-Ma may not, so how could I say no?

The trip will have to wait until after deplyment, so probably sometime in
2011. At least the kids will be a little older and I can save up a TON of money to make it special instead of the budget friendly trip we were going to take.

Bittersweet it is, but I suppose it's the right thing to do.

I am sorry we will basically be doing the same thing. Dh will be leaving and getting back next summer so hopfully he will be coming back with orders and we can go before we leave here or just to celebrate him coming back.

When you find out his R&R dates go over R&R. We did that in Feb and are going back for his "welcome home celebration" in Nov.

That's true...but I don't know how much time he'll get off. Don't they usually get a few weeks when they return home though? We were thinking like a week in Disney and a week with the fam in FL.

They do I think it is based off how much time he was gone. I think it should be at least two weeks for him. Plus he wil have all that saved leave he didn't touch while he was gone.

hi. i know my son in law got the time off when he came back . so maybe you can plan for something later. oh yeah. we actually were at Ft Hood when my sil was there. they have re located now. good luck.

while you do get time off after your deployment in my husbands unit you still have to pay leave if you are going to be outside your local area (in my husbands case local area=8 hours drive). He hasn't been deployed, but he had to stop some people from going to see family after their depolyments because they didn't have leave set up and they thought they could just go "because they were on days off". so be sure about your commands policy on that.

I dont think anyone expects free leave. They do get leave when they get back...block leave. They explain to everyone that they all get it off if they want it, but that it goes against their leave dates. Just like R&R. here even if you are hanging around town, but arent coming into work you have to take leave.

Oh yeah. I do know that if we go more than 150 miles away he has to fill out some forms for leave. I figured he would have to take some leave. But,he'ss have it built up by then...hopefully.

I can't stand it here. LOL...I'm from FL, so I'm used to the heat, but here it's just SO DRY. It TAKES YOUR BREATH AWAY. And NOT in a good way.

My hubby was at Ft Hood for some classes and said its Heaven compared to Ft. Bliss. I SOOOO am ready to move. I cant take the heat at all...my hersheys dark chocolate bar melted from the PX to the car saturday. Thankfully we might be part of the Reset here after he gets back. We have a lot of people going to Ft. Hood from here after they get back.

Ugh...It's BIG...and BUSY!!! But if that's what ya'll want good luck! Yeah, a huge unit just went to Fort Carson and they are in the process of replacing it with another big one.

I seriously NEVER go to the PX or Commissary here. WAY TO CRAZY...LOL

We actually want out of Texas period. We are hoping for an OCONUS tour. We had Hawaii and were supposed to be there in June of this year, but they pulled those orders when he Deployed. You guys are getting some of our ADA I believe since we are getting Armor. Stateside though we would lie Ft Carson, Ft Lewis, Redstone, or he wants Ft. Campbell to get close to home
