Hi all, Amber here. I just wanted to say "HI" and tell you why I am so thankful to be writing this post. My husband Mike and I had been putting our daughter Britt off on a trip to Disneyland for more than a year now, but after an incident in January, we realized that it was not worth putting off anymore.
After school on January 20th, Britt did not come home as usual at 3:30 (we live just 2 blocks from her school) and I became scared. I went to the school and they said that she left as usual. I called the police and while I was on the phone with them, an emergency email came on my cell through the GPS unit that she always carries. The police took that info and again after they got to the school. With that info, the police tracked her GPS and found her in a car almost 12 miles from our home, heading out of town. The ******* who had her had convinced her that he was a family friend (he knew our names and where we lived) and offered to drive her home. She was petrified, but unharmed.
Because of that incident, we have decided that there are just too many things that can happen when you least expect it, and putting things off (like a trip to Disneyland) is a regret that I never want to have to live with.
To make a long story short, (too late ha-ha) this June we are going to make that trip.
I guess I am saying that people should always make the time to do the things that your child wants to do. I just Thank God every day for Britt's safe return and also for the (unintentional) foresight to get the best GPS system there is.
I think I am rambling now and I am getting emotional, so I will say goodbye for now and see you all in June......
