Soooo, I'm lost, a bit dazed, a little confused

I have a question about restaurants. Is the air conditioning really strong and a jacket is required? Thanks so much
If you get cold easily maybe a light sweater. My husband and I think it’s not necessary but my 7 year old says it’s cold.

Depending on what time of year you are going it may be cooler in the evenings. So if you are the type who gets cold easily it doesn't hurt to bring a light sweater. Same for mornings, we often wear long sleeves to rope drop in the fall/spring.

She said she was going in 5 days. It’s been so hot lately.

Never have we ever been to California. We got up this morning and our family said, hey, the universe is speaking to us, let's switch out Florida and head to Disneyland instead in 5 nights. Sure why not. We have booked Disneyland hotel, 3 day tickets with park hopper. I have been reading posts all day and my head is in a tizzy and I'm reaching for the Advil. I'm feeling very nervous about this sudden turn around with such a short time frame to figure things out.
Can anyone help me prioritize what we should be booking, studying up, mentally preparing ourselves for the 2 parks? Also, has anyone done the Covid 19 testing at city hall? Is it far away from Disneyland? Easy to navigate when you get there? I will be booking those appointments as well over the weekend. Thank-you so much in advance
sorry i wrote this before I saw you were leaving in 5 days...I thought you just booked for 5 nights lol...actually you should be pretty good...youre going before the updated newly formatted AP holders come barreling through ugh.....and youre missing the start of Oogie Boogie Bash...so its good...might want to check for refurbishments...I know that HM is going down pretty quick to have the HMH overlay done on it and I know that BTMR is going down for an unknown amount of time...but other than that you should be good...weather will have a few hours really hot but then cool down and be pleasant...wont really need a jacket....

Growing up in the North East, I don't put on a jacket till it dips below the 40's degree range. My idea temperatures are high 50's - low 60's degree range.

Although my wife who tends to get cold more often, pulled out a light jacket when we ate at Cafe Orleans at a table indoors at the restaurant.

So if you eat at Cafe Orleans, ask for an outdoor table, if that's what you prefer.

I always pack a spirit jersey even now, just to have as sometimes the AC chills me and I just need something to cover my arms. I also have one with me as Anaheim weather is so variable. I've been at Disneyland in Sept when it has been really cold, and just a few years back with the half marathon weekends we woke up to temps in the 80s at 5am.

The last few trips we done in the past 2 months, we haven't needed one even as early as 6am or on our walk from from Flemings at 10p.... We will be there in 5 days too! And at the DLH... If you see a group harassing a brand new 21yo, say hi!! (Going to celebrate a friend's kids BD.)

I haven't read all the responses, but most importantly, you don't have to plan every single step of your day. DL and DCA are very relaxed compared to WDW parks. Get your boarding passes/virtual queue at 7 or 12 for RotR and Webslingers. Grab a reservation or two if you can (but it doesn't really matter--just mobile order from a quick service place), and try to go on the busiest rides (aka thrill rides and Peter Pan) early in the day. At DCA, also consider RSR either first if you can get there at rope drop or plan to queue right before closing so you don't waste 2 hours during the day on it.

Just wanted to update something. PCR testing is getting hard to schedule again. If you are coming soon, I recommend scheduling a.s.a.p. regardless of where you plan to go. You will need an appointment. There are very few walk in testing sites, especially for travel.

My husband tested positive using a home rapid test yesterday afternoon. He has to wait until tomorrow at 4pm to get a PCR to confirm the result. And there was only that one appointment looking out several days at all the Walgreens locations near us.

Thanks for the heads up. Wishing him a speedy recovery

Hoping he recovers quickly!

I hope the home test was a false positive but either way good luck and take care.

Likely not. He has symptoms consistent with covid after being sick with a cold 3 weeks ago and testing negative at that time. One of his close contacts in recent days is also feeling sick with covid symptoms. He thinks he caught it from that guy at an outdoor gathering.

Thank-you so much. I scheduled us in at the City Hall location. I hope your husband has a speedy recovery!

Well, since you were originally headed to Florida I assume you're already braced for hot/humid weather. Although I would suggest, if you haven't already, to buy one of those rechargeable misting fans that are all over Amazon. The latest is now the the kind you wear around your neck and there are two fans on either side shooting out a steady mist. Boy would these have come in hand on my trip last month!

My family went for our second trip to Disneyland (the previous being 8 years ago) two weeks ago. We live in the southeastern US, so we go to Disney World much more frequently. If you are used to the frantic planning required for WDW and the frantic pace once you're there, you will be so pleasantly surprised with Disneyland. The whole vibe is more relaxed. Even at rope drop, we didn't witness pushing or elbowing to be at the front of the line. Everyone patiently merged from a blob into a queue. It was wonderful! And park hopping is so easy! There is literally a courtyard that separates the two parks. You can see the entrance to BOTH at the same time!

We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel too. It is beautiful and so iconic Disney. It was a 12 minute walk from the door of the Fantasy Tower to the entrance of DCA. That includes going through security. I made some dining reservations before we went, but only Cafe Orleans seemed full when we were there. It was very crowded and very hot. Like I said, I live in the South where we have "air that you wear" due to humidity. It wasn't as humid in DL, but the afternoon sun is very intense. We took cooling towels and neck fans. Both were very welcomed while standing in line, as the queue for practically every ride is mostly outside. That's quite different from WDW.

While there are things about WDW that I adore, I would honestly go to DLR more if it weren't a cross country flight. It's a short 1 hr, 15 min flight from my hometown to Orlando. I love the compactness of DLR. I love the laid back vibe. I love that everyone we saw just seemed happy to be there. It truly felt like the happiest place on Earth! Enjoy your trip!
