 SO, we ordered our new truck waaaaaay back in May and it will finally be here this friday, and then had the plan to buy a new/er TT this tax season, so we have been saving money for our deposit, etc. to get ready for our first trip to the fort in oct. 2009.............then all of a sudden, our septic system decides to quit working......the whole thing.....so we just had to get that whole ******* thing replaced to the tune of 18,000. So, needless to say my new TT will not happen for next year. I was so angry I think I threw a temper tantrum that would rival any 3yrs olds. So, if anyone is going next year, over Halloween and your in the 1400 loop and you see a beautiful blue ford super duty f-250 with an antique red neck vacation home, (lol...thats what our friends call it) that would be us........Do stop by and express your condolences.....Ok, now that I have that out I feel better. Well not really, but i am trying......

thank your for the "hug".....I thought it was crazy at first, but after consulting with about 4 other construction companies thats about the average price. I told my husband it would be cheaper to just buy a bank of port-a-potties for out back....lol

Holy Crappers $18,000.00, did you remodel the outhouse too ?:lmao:

Oh my! That bites! Sorry to hear about the camper situation.

Sure didn't.......I could have remodeled about three for that price. Seriously though, I guess because of the way our house is situated and having to keep it far enough away from the well as well as the neighbors well, oh yes, and did I mention there really never was a leach field....hmmm.....darn real estate agents...anyway...we had a lot of obstacles to overcome. I still get hot just thinking about it. A few people have asked when we were getting our new tt then I point them at the front yard and tell them there it is.......lol

Sorry to hear about your troubles. That sure is an awful lot of money for a septic tank. I can have a new 4br system put in in GA for 3200.00 dollars. What kind of system are they putting in. Are there something special about it?

If you had them put in a dump station for the TT, it was worth it. ;)

a dump station......why didnt I think of that......LOL As far as the type of system, yes its called the suck you dry system....LOL It is designed for a 4br 2ba My husband has the name of it, but its a special system designed for compact spaces, not to mention that we had to have so much fill removed and replaced. That was a good part of the cost on top of the fact that when the house was built in1964 that there were really no "rules" as to what kind of land fill you had to use so they found everything from car parts to wire fence to mattresses etc. when they were excavating. Also we had to go deeper than normal to make up for not going longer. And the fact that we live in Ct where they charge an arm and a leg for a loaf of bread doesnt help matters either. LoL Anyway....

I hate it when "Reality" gets in the way of my plans. I hope somehow something happens to allow you to get your new septic and TT.

I know.....I hate reality too! I keep hoping and praying that when we go to the RV show in January we will find some super fabulous screaming deal. But, in the mean time, I will be scraping together all my loose change and trying to cut corners as much as we can......talk about living the american dream. But, if it doesnt happen oh well.......

There you go girl! :cheer2:

Now you have a plan! I think you have a great chance of getting the deal of a lifetime at the RV show! :yay:

:grouphug: Good Luck!

There is a reason for everything maybe your supposed to wait

$18,000 Wow that's triple what a new complete system cost here. At least you still get your new truck. A few years back I redid our septic system. About a grand in parts and I just brought home the company backhoe.

:rotfl2: The hubby and I were talking, and we figured that if we charged a "cover" to those who use our toilet, charging extra of course for toilet paper and a 5.00 minimum to take a poo.....we should be able to get that new camper after all!!!:rotfl2:

Sorry to hear about the bad news, here's hoping a winning lottery ticket is in your future and you end up with the ability to get the trailer of your dreams.

$18k for a system vs. the $3 or less in other areas, seems like those of us in the northeast are getting a regional surcharge. When we were building our house 8 years ago (ourselves, not a contractor) none of the septic installers would return our calls to provide a quote because they were all busy with a housing boom. One that did call us said it would be a minimum $25k - I replied that it was a simple design, no significant fill, etc., he replied that he was so busy he didn't care, would not even show up for less than $25k UP FRONT!

Two weeks later, I had my installers license in hand, a rented backhoe and the thing was installed for about $4k. Also for a 4 br design. We used some of the difference in $ for a whirlpool tub :thumbsup2 .

Must be something in the chimney! We just had to put in a new furnace and A/C unit back in April $8500.00 Boy did that throw the budget out the window!! But ya gotta have heat!:headache:

My condolences. I know what you're going through. Life always seems to get in the way of the stuff we want! $18k for a septic system just doesn't sound like a "deal". The northeast is completely out of price with the rest of the country. I live in NJ so I can commiserate. I hope you get a good deal on a TT or win the lottery!
