The title says it all! I made reservations for Teppan Edo on our EPCOT day 10/8/10 for 8pm for our party of 14! Well I just realized Illuminations will be going on at 9pm. From the pictures of this restaurant I'm pretty sure you can't see the fireworks from inside the restaurant. And it's pretty safe to assume we won't be done with dinner in an hour. I checked to see if maybe there were earlier times and nothing to be found! This is our only EPCOT day and I really don't want to miss Illuminations, I have never seen it before! My question is...will they allow us to get up and go watch the fireworks from the doorway or windows and then come back to finish our meal? is it even possible to finish this restaurant within an hour?

Now there is a chance we may cancel this ressie anyways because we may be pretty full from the food and wine festival to even have dinner. But if anyone has had any experience with this, I would gladly appreciate some input! Thanks again!!

And just out of curiosity, how long would a dinner at CRT take?! Can you see main street from the restaurant?!

You're correct, you can't see fireworks from Teppan Edo. As for them letting you leave the table to go watch, I don't know about that. They cook AT the table so I don't know about holding a course until you return.

No, you can't see Main Street. I think the restaurant faces the other direction, toward Fantasyland.

Thanks! I'll have to figure something out!

I think Teppan Edo is at the back of the building in Japan, with Tokyo Dining at the front (with the windows). When we ate at Tokyo Dining in 2008, they dimmed the lights and pumped the Illuminations music into the restaurant. We could see pretty much everything, and we didn't even stand up (our table wasn't right on the windows, either. I think we were 2nd or 3rd row back). It was great!

Hmmm I think they did have some availability! Maybe i'll look into changing our reservation to there! Thanks for the advice! :)

Try to show up early... we did and it worked for us, but I know you can't count on it. We enjoyed watching the show from the deck up top outside of these 2 restaurants. :)

You need to ask yourself which is more important. Seeing Illuminations or going to this eattery. Since you say you never have seen Illumination I would opt out to cancel that ADR. You need to see Illuminations at least once in your life it is so worth it.

There is no way to see Illuminations from TE. I think I'd change or cancel the reservation. Could you do lunch instead? They serve the same menu. :thumbsup2

Another option may be to switch to the new Mexican TS - La Hacienda de San Angel. They may still have ADRs since they just opened. :goodvibes You're supposed to be able to see Illuminations from inside the restaurant since it is on the water.

I was going to suggest La Hacienda too. It would probably be your best bet with a party that large. They just started taking ressies last week and will have a great view of the show.

I never attempt to watch Illuminations while dining. Very difficult to have a decent view except at a select few restaurants. Even then, only certain tables have a good view and its pure luck to get such a table.

Instead we opt for 6:30 or 7:00pm ADR's. Trouble is, that works only on low crowd days. Any day with moderate or high crowds people will be packed 2-3 deep all along the lagoon well over an hour prior to the show.

Our last visit 2 weeks ago we dined at Teppan Edo (never again!) at 7pm. We were out by 8:30pm and found a perfect spot with a close up view of all barges. We were close enough to feel the heat from the fire barge. No way would I trade that for being inside a restaurant with a more limited experience.
