I was just thinking about you and wondering how you are doing with all of that bedrest. :) I know from first-hand experience that it can be nice for a day or two but then you can go crazy especially when you have so much to do. :)

Hey guys! I'm doing great and so is baby Thor! We just got back from the Dr. Had a non-stress test and he passed. He's been kicking so much he has awakened me these passed few nights. I'm doing OK since I've got my computer and TV. He's a happy little camper.
However he better get his bags packed, my Dr told me today that she wants to induce me next week! I reach 36 weeks next Weds. and they think he will be all ready to go by then. Since another placental abruption would be a very bad thing they aren't going to risk it by letting me go naturally. I agreed with her and next Monday when I go back in I guess we set a date! I can't believe I might have a baby by next weekend! I'm a little scared of the induction drugs and not really ready to bring a baby home, but so excited that he might be here at last.
I also got the OK to go to my shower this Saturday. Cool.

Thanks for thinking of me!

*HUGS* Hang in there, Sonya....:D

Sounds great, Sonya!
Dont worry about the induction drugs. While I found they did make labor harder than I had the first time, they definitely worked...and FAST! The tough part will be over before you know it and then you will have a happy healthy baby to bring home. Then the fun begins. :teeth:
Continued prayers & pixie dust to you guys!!!!

So happy to hear the good news, Sonya! :) Take care and keep us updated when you can.
:)

How exciting! Just wait until you see him - you'll know the meaning of "love at first sight." :)

:D I'm so glad to hear everything is going well for you and baby Thor, Sonya. Take care and have a great time at your shower!

good luck with everything...easy labor vibes!!! I had to be induced because of my PIH...my dr. didn't want me to go past my due date. The gel did nothing for me (my cervix still needed ripening) but the pitocin started things off right away. I was scared to death of pitocin, but it wasn't bad...they started it off slowly. My contractions started off steadily, but weren't as bad as I thought they would be with the pitocin. They did break my water, which intensified things, but had to take me off of pitocin because Daniel wasn't tolerating it. Contractions kept coming thankfully.

I ended up with a c-section because of Daniel...he was non-responsive all day...not because of my induction. I think the induction would have worked fine if he would just move! I wasn't nuts about the section and would like to VBAC next time, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Good luck to you!!!! Keep us posted when you can.

Glad to hear the good news, Sonya :) :)

I was induced with both of my DSs. Since I had nothing else to compare it to, I didn't think it was all that bad. They do start you out slowly, though, and usually once they break your water (if they need to), things will progress.

With DS15, they didn't break my water till the third morning that I was in the hospital. Day 1: 9am, they hooked me up to pitocin...I had very light contractions all day and I wasn't dilating at all. At 5pm on Day 1, they turned off the pitocin, they ordered dinner for me and let me take a shower, and go to bed. Day 2: They turned the pitocin back on, but then same thing, exactly, as Day 1. Day 3: They turned the pitocin on, broke my water at 9am, and told me that if I didn't deliver by 9pm then I'd have to have a C-section. Fortunately, my contractions progressed, I dilated, and delivered 9lb DS at 9:15pm that evening. Since I had an epidural at around 4pm, I actually slept from around 4-8pm, DURING the contractions and everything! LOL I woke up at 8pm because the epidural was beginning to wear off. I got just enough feeling back to allow me to push, so it worked out great :)

With DS12, I went into the hospital the night before so they could put the gel onto my cervix. During the night I began some light to moderate contractions. They kept me awake all night, but then totally stopped by morning! LOL At around 9am they hooked me up to the pitocin, and I started the contractions again. At around 5pm they broke my water and DS was born at around 5:30pm. :)

So...not all pitocin inductions are the same, but they are not bad like they once had the reputation of being! :) Good luck and good health to you and your baby :)

Hi Sonya,

I too had to be induced with pitocin & while it wasn't very comfortable (to say the least), I did get the epidural to help me get through the pain. Trust me, those breathing techniques are just to give you something to do while you're in pain! Oh boy...didn't mean to scare you. If childbirth was so bad, no one would have more than 1 child, right? ;)

Second time around was a breeze, even with pitocin (got the epidural again though!)

Sending good thoughts your way Sonya. Lots of PD too!

Mishetta

Keeping your family in my prayers! Keep on growing baby Thor! We can't wait to "meet" you.

That's great to hear Sonya. Wishing you all the best in the last few weeks of your pregnancy :)

Thanks everybody. *blush* I can't decide if I'm more scared or excited. Thanks for telling my your induction stories ladies, I think I might need both the gel and the pitocen. I think I'll ask for the epi as soon as I get to the hospital!
Mishetta, I agree about the breathing exercises, I tried them with a few Braxton-Hicks and that was a laugh!

Try to hold off on the epi if you can...I've read that especially in inductions if you can hold off longer you have a better chance of the least amount of intervention and/or c-section. Discuss it with your dr, of course.

I found crossword puzzles to be great time passers. I just couldn't concentrate on anything...you might have a lot of laying around to do before things get moving. We did the crossword in the morning paper...hubby read the questions and wrote. It was a nice distraction. Card games would probably be good, too. We also brought our own boom box with some very relaxing cds. Andrea Boccelli was a great choice...even the nurse's commented on it.

All my best to you and Thor for an easy, uneventful delivery, Sonya. :) :) :)

also, something to pack if you are planning on nursing would be a breastfeeding book. I had a couple that I brought with me, and I was glad I did! I had read a lot beforehand, the nurses were awesome, and I took a class at the hospital, but there is a lot of downtime after the big event. It was nice to refer to the book once things are underway!

It also helped because we were horrible at burping, and there were a lot of suggestions in my books that we were able to use. Finally found success. :D

If you aren't nursing a childcare book would be great to bring, too.

Sonya, get the epidural as SOON as they will give it to you. TRUST ME on this one. ;)

I won't bore you with the gory details of my pitocin-enhanced labor but suffice it to say I had a bad reaciton to the pitocin and they never DID give me an epidural. Every woman I know who HAD an epidural was SO much happier with the birth process and so much more rested and able to enjoy the new little bundle afterwards.

I'm glad to hear that you and Thor are doing well and I hope your last few days or so as a family of TWO instead of THREE are happy and restful ones! :)
