I must say I have found a new hang out. Too bad its far from me but worth the drive. DH and I had Sonic last night and LOVED IT :thumbsup2 !! They are opening Sonic's here in Michigan. I've heard from friends who go to Sonic in the south how good it is. I loved it! The drinks are too die for. I had a strawberry fruit slush and DH had a chocolate shake. Both were delicious! Food was great too! I can't wait to get back to Sonic. I thought the whole set up was cute. With the girls on roller skates. Now should we be tipping the girls when they bring the food to your car? Also what are some other good drinks we should try?

I LOVE Sonic chocolate shakes!! :goodvibes

My DD17 works at Sonic and yep, she gets tipped.

Ooooh, the chocolate shake was to die for. I'm getting that next time!!

I love Sonic but unfortunate there are none near me, I use to be stationed in Texas and went all the time. The few times we drove to Disney it was mandatory to stop at Sonic.

The strawberry fruit slush is one of the most amazing things ever! The cherry limeade is second! They are opening a few Sonics here in the Cleveland area. None closer that 35 minutes from me. We still go on weekends sometimes.

Cherry limeades are good. My favorite is vanilla Diet Coke.

Be sure to try to stuffed jalepenos (sorry, I can't think of what they're actually called) and dip them in ranch. Yum!

I love the diet vanilla coke!!! DD brings me those home sometimes.

The girls go almost everyday after school during "Happy Hour" to get cheap drinks.

Sonic is great and no, you don't have to tip. My DH usually just gives them the bills, like if our order is $10. 36 and he gives them $11, and tells them to keep the change. They can make quite a bit of money that way. I personally don't do that because I save all my change to put back to help pay for trips.

Funny story:

One day when my youngest was around 2 years old, we were driving around. He noticed the McDonald's sign and said, "Hot fries!" Then we passed the pizza joint we like and he said, "Pizza!" Then we passed a Sonic and he said, "Supper!" :rotfl:

What does this say about the dining habits of my family?

Anyway, we figured out that I was telling the kids that Daddy is bringing home supper and he would bring home Sonic. So the 2 year old began to associate "supper" with the Sonic logo. :lmao:

I told my DD17 about this thread and about the tipping question and she said, "yes, you DO tip the girls who bring out your food or we will go back inside and talk bad about you!!"

They advertise Sonic so much on tv but there are none anywhere near me. The closest one is about an hour south of me. Am I missing anything?

Wait a minute--where have they opened up Sonic in Michigan?

While I thought there food was okay when I lived in New Mexico, I absolutely stop every time I got back to visit for a cherry lime. :thumbsup2 Does this mean I now get one more than twice a year?

Love our Sonic's here in Texas - it's my kids choice for burgers.

Ask for a BLT - it's no longer on their menu, by some of them will still make it.

THE BEST ONION RINGS EVER!!

I think it's in Southfield, maybe??? I'm on the complete other side of the Metro Detroit area. We drool over the Sonic commercials. We talk about going to the new Sonic but never have. It's kind of far just for some fast food. Maybe we'll do it now that gas prices have dropped. I'm dying to try a cherry limade.

ETA it's Southgate, not Southfield. There's one in Flint, too.

There is one just south of Toledo too, in Perrysburg/Rossford area. I haven't eaten there (the first few weeks they had to have police direct the traffic!) but I had a coconut cream pie shake that was to die for.

Try the cream pie shakes if you haven't yet. That's good stuff.

Actually all of their drinks are good. These make Sonic something special IMO.

I love their diet cherry limeade and some of the ice cream desserts/shakes, but I don't like any of their food.

Tipping is not required at any restaurant, but not tipping a server who brings food out to your table or car is rude in my opinion. If you don't want to tip, stick to the drive thru window.

I love Sonic. The strawberry fruit slush is my favorite.

If tipping is expected, then they need to add a tip line to the credit card receipt. I never carry cash and use my card there.

We have one about a mile and half from home. The java chillers are to die for. I always get a coney footlong with tater tots and a caramel java chiller. Yum
