Songs That Make You Cry

Tears in Heaven - because I think of why he wrote the song.

Child of Mine - Carly Simon

Higher Love - reminds me of my friend who was killed in a car crash when I was 21.

God Bless America - ever since 9/11 chokes me up.

The Star Spangled Banner -- always has since I was really little. I don't know why.

Goodnight My Angel by Billy Joel -- the last lines just kill me "Someday we'll all be gone but lullabies live on and on, they'll never die, that's how you and I will be."

And there's this country song -- I don't know the name or artist -- but it's about the man's grandparents and his grandmother is dying and his grandfather shows him a note. The chorus is

"If you get here before I do, don't give up on me.
I'll see when my chores are through, I don't know how long I'll be.
But I'm not going to let you down. Just you wait and see.
But between now and then, till I see you again
I'll be loving you. Love, me"

that's a killer song!

It's called "Love Me" and it's by Collin Raye, aprincessmom

Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work" makes me cry.

Some others:

I can't make you love me - Bonnie Raitt
Beautiful Boy - John Lennon
Wasted Time - The Eagles
Danny's Song- Loggins & Messina
Bookends/Old Friends - Simon & Garfunkel
Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Eva Cassidy
Why - Annie Lennox

I could go on and on, I'm basically a big crybaby. :teeth:

"Cold" by Annie Lennox

Come to me run to me
Do and be done with me
(Cold Cold Cold)
Don't I exist for you?
Don't I still live for you?
(Cold cold cold)
Everything I possess
Given with tenderness
Wrapped in a ribbon of glass
Time it may take us but God only knows
How I've paid for those things in the past

Dying is easy it's living that scares me to death
I could be so content hearing the sound of your breath
Cold is the color of crystal the snowlight
That falls from the heavenly skies
Catch me and let me dive under under
For I want to swim in the pools of your eyes

I want to be with you baby
Slip me inside of your heart
Don't I belong to you baby?
Don't you know that nothing can tear us apart?
Come on now come on now come on now
Telling you that
I loved you right from the start...
But the more I want you the less I get
Ain't that just the way things are...

Winter has frozen us
Let love take hold of us
(Cold cold cold)
Now we are shivering
Blue ice is glittering
(Cold cold cold)

Cold is the colour of crystal the snowlight
That falls from the heavenly skies
Catch me and let me dive under
For I want to swim in the pools of your eyes

I Know You by Heart -- Eva Cassidy

Midnights in Winter
The glowing fire
Lights up your face in orange and gold.
I see your sweet smile
Shine through the darkness
Its line is etched in my memory.
So I’d know you by heart.

Mornings in April
Sharing our secrets
We’d walk until the morning was gone.
We were like children
Laughing for hours
The joy you gave me lives on and on.

‘Cause I know you by heart.

I still hear your voice
On warm Summer nights
Whispering like the wind.

You left in Autumn
The leaves were turning
I walked down roads of orange and gold.
I saw your sweet smile
I heard your laughter
You’re still here beside me every day.

‘Cause I know you by heart,
‘Cause I know you by heart.

There is a new country song by Dusty Drake called
ONE MORE TIME, the first time you hear it you think it is a break up song but it is about a last phone call. The more I hear it, the more I cry.

Then Rick Springfield's MY FATHERS CHAIR
It talks about feelings when his father dies, I could relate when my Mom died.

If Tomorrow Never Comes is right up there...but I cry at PLENTY of songs.

My niece just asked for a song for her future husband and his mother to dance to, and I told her most people will cry when it's played - I Am Your Child

I am your child
Wherever you go, you take me, too
Whatever I know, I learned from you
Whatever I do, you taught me to do
I am your child
And I am your chance

Whatever will come, will come from me
Tomorrow is won, by winning me
Whatever I am, you taught me to be
I am your hope,
I am your chance,
I am your child

Whatever I am, you taught me to be
I am your hope,
I am your chance,
I am your child

*sniffle* :)

Forever Young
Tears in Heaven
A country song I LOVE but not sure of the name, maybe by Jodee Messina (sp?) - if given the choice to sit it out or dance - dance

"I Hope You Dance" by Martina McBride, Gette.

While I'm waiting for Bobby to come home from Iraq, the songs that get me emotional are:

One More Day by Diamond Rio

...and

I'm Already There by Lonestar

"Only Time" by Enya -- that song will ALWAYS remind me of Sept. 11. :(
"Three Wooden Crosses" -- a new one by Randy Travis
"Two Tear Drops" and "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" by Steve Wariner
I also cried the first couple of times I hear "Don't Take the Girl" and "The Good Stuff". "Love, Me" by Collin Raye makes me cry, too, aprincessmom.

Katerkat, I like "Three Wooden Crosses" too.

There are 2, both remind me of my mom who passed away 2 years ago.

I Hope You Dance by Leeann Womack
There You'll Be by Faith Hill

:(

Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work" makes me cry.

snoopy - you must be a fan of "She's Having a Baby"! That is one of my all time favorite movies and not a lot of people have seen it to talk about it! That song is so haunting and beautiful. I hardly ever cry at the movies but that delivery room scene and This Woman's Work - forget about it!

Has anyone ever heard of Beth Neilsen Chapman? Her husband died leaving her with a young son and the songs she wrote during that time are so beautiful. I especially love "Sand and Water" and "The Color of Roses" - ooh, I haven't had a good cry in a while - I'm gonna dig that CD up right now!

kasar, who played in that movie? Was it Eliabeth McGovern (is that her name???) and Kevin Bacon? I think I saw that movie, and liked it, but its been awhile. I've been a big fan of Kate Bush for years, and have always loved this song. You're right, its very haunting and beautiful.......
