Just saw on MSNBC that Song Airlines along with Delta have filed fpr bankruptcy.
Not sure how this will affect future flights? :sad2:

They're one and the same.

Guess we gotta live with that. Most likely it will be business almost as usual for several months; although they might not be quite as ready when you are. United went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy a few years ago and passengers did not notice anything different other than the skies being a little less friendly.

I already bought my tickets to Orlando for July 2006 -- RT for $158 pp. I REALLY hope this bankruptcy filing doesn't affect my reservations :guilty: Does any know if people who booked tickets already are going to have problems?? :confused3

"The action we have taken is a necessary and responsible step to preserve Delta's value for our creditors, customers, employees, business partners and other stakeholders," said Delta Chief Executive Gerald Grinstein in a release. "Delta is open for business as usual and will continue normal operations throughout the reorganization process."

If United and US Air are any example, then Delta (and NWA when they file -- their board was meeting today -- anyone heard if they voted to file?) will probably trim their schedule by 10-15%. That means some flights will be consolidated and some will be eliminated. So yes, some flights might be affected, but not that many.

I have Song booked for a Nov trip to WDW and will be booking flights for our Oct '06 trip in early Dec. I'm not concerned at all. Worst case scenario is that they will combine some flights or do away with less profitable ones. I check my itinerery every day because of that.

I've flown United before and after it filed bankruptcy without any major problems. Delta/Song and NWA will most likely be the same. This is a reorganization bankruptcy, not a going-out-of-business one.

It is very rare for a company to go from operating normally one day and liquidating its assets the next. There is almost always somet period of time where the company tries to reorganize its lack of profit away. So far the US judiciary has been very generous to major airlines, shifting that lack of profit away from the airline an onto it workers and/or the US taxpayer, so while there is lots to worry about there, having the airline ticket become worthless is among the least of our worries.

I had a flight that I had booked in Jan for Song in early November. It was supposed to be a direct flight from Newark NJ to Orlando, but then in July Delta announced that they would no longer be offering direct flights from Newark to Orlando, so I was given the option of using connecting flights or
getting a refund. I got refund and booked on JetBlue.

Wow, it took me a couple seconds to catch the reference!

When did Delta use that tag line - maybe early-to-mid 70s?
