My son plays high school varsity football. I booked this trip in July before he made the Varsity Team. Okay what were the odds of them making the playoffs.

Well they did. We have won our first three play-off games. Three of us fly to Orlando on 12/19. My son was to fly out after exams 12/21. IF (Hopefully Wishing) they keep winning every Saturday they will be in the state championships on 12/23. This would be better than any dream I could imagine.

I won't know til the 16th, and will need pixie dust to find him a flight on 12/24 or 12/25.

Hopefully they will still be in it and we can have a football party at the All Star Sports (we have to request football section) and we can send them pixie dust from Florida to make it to the State Championships and be victorious.

12 days and counting

Everybody with them luck. :bounce:  :yay: :Pinkbounc :santa: pixiedust: :shamrock:

Thanks

We won again...Congrats Owls. Let's keep the pixie dust coming....

Thanks for the support.....

You're going to Disneyworld Instead of the Game?!?! OK just kidding, it has been a long time since I played high school ball but I loved it! We made it to the playoffs, but never the championship. Best of luck to his team!...and hopefully he can get a flight to Disneyworld for the victory celebration!

I can't afford the change fee on 4 tickets. His dad will be there with him and get him on a plane the next day. The game will be available online. Our local radio station will have it. We can buy the DVD from the school district station later. Also we have a 5A forum just like this one. One fan posts play by play from the game.

I would love to have him miss part of the trip. They have the heart and the desire to not let anything get in their way. So I'll keep hoping...Maybe Tink can send so extra pixie dust to them. They play Saturday in Houston.

Sorry thats what I thought. Your DS won't feel bad that none of your family is at the game? But went to WDW instead.

I guess I should also ask, does he actually play or made the varsity team , but not the 1st string team. Any chance he may play?

It is very exciting, our local high school won the state football championship and state soccer championships last year.

This year the soccer team won states again. My friends son is the goalie , so its very exciting, and my kids are nowhere near high school age.

Just to clarify, I was joking when I said that. :) That is really cool that you can get a dvd and all that other stuff. Good luck to the team!

He has been out with a knee injury most of the season. Just got the okay from the Dr. last week. He might get luck enough to play a little. We have a lot of SR. starters. and because of the injury he doesn't have much field experience. Better to let the more experience players take care of business. All these players are like family. It's been pretty amazing.

Wishing your son a TON of pixie dust! There's no experience like being in high school and being part of seeking a championship. I had that wonderful chance many years ago with the Pennsylvania softball championship. I rode the bench throughout the season but I was part of the team. Everyone is part of the team. It is the thrill of a lifetime. Disney World is great but it'll be there. The championship won't. GO FOR IT!!!!!

We had our WDW trip planned for Feb of 06...my freshman son made the HS hockey varsity team in November.....we changed our WDW plans til April vacation...after hockey season (varsity players are not allowed to leave during vacs, they still practice) ......our team went on to win state championship this year with our son playing key roles in what he has already called a moment he will never forget... :cool1:
WDW is the best place on earth and many great memories will always come from there...but I'm sure that TX state title will be right up there...good luck in the game and enjoy the Holidays with the Mouse !!

GOOD LUCK!!!

My son is only 10, and and eats, sleeps and breathes football! He would miss a Disney trip in a heartbeat for any football game, never mind the champoinships games. (And he loves Disney!)

And it doesn't matter if your son plays 2 minutes or the whole game, it's thrilling no matter what :thumbsup2

Wishing your son luck from a 1986 Garland High School Alumni. My DH played for the Garland Owls in the 70's and I was a Dashing Deb in the 80's. We traveled to Houston in 1999 to watch the Owls win the state championship. We really feel the Owls are going to do it again. It is really cool to see a post about it on the boards.

God willing we win this week we should be back at Texas Stadium next weekend. My daughter was a Deb Class of 03. She was a Gold Jacket in 1999. We to traveled to Houston for the game against Katy (my DH and I both graduated from Katy). Maybe a rematch at the Alamodome????

Prayers to your son that his knee gets all healed up.
I agree with the others, it doesn't matter if he plays or not, or how much he plays..being a part of a playoff team is just a great experience for him...
A couple years ago my son was on the JV when our Varsity team went to the playoffs and played at Texas stadium. The coach moved up some of the JV and took them as well. My son had the time of his life..One of the last plays of the game, he got to go "in"...and to see him down there playing where the pro's play was just an amazing experience...
Man, I love football in TEXAS!!!
btw...We are from WF Rider....
I will be rooting for you guys...GO OWLS!! :cheer2:
