My son has a new YouTube channel (scream capturing video games and commentary) and would also like to Vlog upcoming Disney vacations. He has an iPhone 6. Can he use it to vlog and what additional accessories might be useful?

He can use it to vlog pretty easily. Accessories will depend on what you are willing to spend. Just a case with a finger loop would make carrying it more comfortable but you could go all the way up to buying a stabilizer which cost in the hundreds.

As long as he isn't vlogging on a dark ride he should be fine. If he chooses to film a ride make sure he turns the screen brightness all the way down. As long as the screen brightness is down he won't disturb anyone.

I am willing to spend some for him, but not tons. At least not until I see the extent of his commitment. I like the idea of a loop case! I was also thinking a reasonable priced lapel mic?

A lapel mic is not a terrible idea. He could also use any headphones he has with a mic already and try a few videos at home before you invest in too much.

I really appreciate the input! I want to encourage the interest, but he is 12 and kind of fickle, so i want to see what we can do with what we have until we see how long the interest will last!

Don't worry. At his age he should be able to show what he can come up with editing wise and vloging with the software included on is computer. If he is doing game walk-through then he must have some sort of audio and video editor (even if it is iMovie or the windows equivalent) so before you throw a ton of money at this hobby do what you are doing. Affordable options and then have him stick it out and show that it is more than just a fad. There are a lot of how tos for editing and stuff that he can look up online that utilize free programing. Also he is a student so best to look into student editions for now as they are free or significantly cheaper.

Excellent point about student editions!
