Something up at Epcot now?

I told DH I thought I heard extra fireworks tonight, in addition to Illuminations. (And I don't hear MK fireworks where we are now. On a rare occasion I hear what I think may be coming from MGM.)
DH just came home from a long day at work. He was getting off exit 67, which is the exit for DTD and Epcot.
Police had the entrance to WDW blocked off on the ramp.
When he got off 536, he looked in the rear view mirror, behind him. He said it also looked like something was going on at the entrance -- flashing lights -- like where the gateway sign is.
I thought maybe there was a special party. He said it didn't look like a party. It looked like something else happened. But have no idea what.
May have to take a drive.....

Not at Epcot. Looks to be a very bad accident involving a van and a car right underneath the WDW entrance sign at hwy 536.
Police are not allowing drivers to go in that area. Heading towards WDW on 536, drivers have to take the exit ramp onto I4.
So many cop vehicles. Reminded me of the first Blues Bros movie. State police too.
Would guess it is a fatality. The car had the top peeled off. They must have used the jaws of life on the car. Looks like the van ran into the entrance sign.

How sad What an awful way to end/begin a trip to WDW. Thanks for letting us know it wasn't something at EPCOT.

I admit we were rubbernecking last night -- something I normally don't do. But when Disney is involved...

One thing we noticed was no media was around....
Of course a reporter or cameraperson could have been there and we not noticed. But no marked News truck, van, etc. that we saw.
Dozens of official vehicles. No news truck.....


DH was wondering if someone was driving and watching Illuminations.
It really does light up the sky in the surrounding areas.
