I am not sure if this has been mentioned before but figured I would post it just in case....
I just discovered this when booking a room at BC for a client. They are BIG BC fans and really want to stay there. When I searched for the 3 nights they wanted nothing came up as available but concierge which is out of their budget. Knowing that this is the case with TA rates, I decided to check for a longer stay so I searched for 5 nights at BC, same check in date, just adding two days at the end. VIOLA! Availability in all room categories. I called them and explained that I can book it with 5 days and then call to drop the last 2 but that it would be a $50 change fee to do that b/c it reduces the cost of the package. They were absolutely fine with that because it gives them the resort and room category they want and adds only $16.67 per night (averaged out) to the cost of their 3 night stay. That still put them within their budget for the trip and a significant savings over paying rack so they are happy.
I checked other things that previously had not been available and it seems when I couldn't get 5 nights somewhere, I could sometimes get 7 so if you are having trouble getting exactly what you want with the best rate deal and are willing to pay that $50 fee to make sure you get it, check out a longer stay and see if that makes a difference!
