and I wanted to share it here.

This is only the 2nd time I'm staying 'off site' in Anaheim. It will, I'm sure, come as a shock to many of you to learn that I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels, and the thought of staying anywhere but the DL hotel is anathema to me.

Since I needed three rooms this trip, I searched around and found a good deal at the Sheraton Anaheim. I was more than a little concerned that I would get here, take one look at it and immediately ferry the family over to the DL - cost be damned.

While the hotel is nice, and the beds are comfortable, I was still on the fence this morning - until it was time to go to the parks.

We rented a scooter for my Mom for the week. While she can get around okay, walking thru theme parks these days are a bit of a challenge (she has a very bad back) and I wanted her to enjoy herself as pain free as possible this week.

After what I must admit was an excellent breakfast at the hotel, we went outside to catch the shuttle to the parks. A bellman noticed my Mom's scooter and asked us where we planned to go today. I said Disneyland and she told us to 'stay right there'. A few minutes later, a large van pulled around and the driver told us that he would be taking us over to the parks. The standard bus they have here does not have the ability to handle a scooter. I was impressed by this - but it was nothing compared to my reaction when the driver told us that when we were ready to come back that we should call the hotel and they would send the van back to pick us up. Well, I was floored - they were providing private direct transportation just for us because we had someone in a wheelchair!!!

I'll admit, I practically emptied my pockets of cash to give this guy a tip. Not just because I was impressed with the service, but because they were taking such good care of my Mom. And before anyone suggests that they did this because they knew what I did for a living, I can assure you -they don't. And even if they did, the bellman who saw us outside certainly didn't - this was just what they do.

The service at this hotel is far better than the service I received at the DL hotel in February - and the room is less than half the price. I have to admit it - I'm really glad we chose to stay here - and Mom absolutely loves it! :)

Glad you're having a good time in the Sheraton Pete.

My wife and I had the first week of out honeymoon in that hotel, and loved it. It was our first trip to the States and boy did we ever fall in love with your country and it's lovely, friendly people.

We had the same service from the staff there, this was back in '92. Once they found out we were from England, honeymooners and had never been to the USA before,, they couldn't do enough to help, advise and make our week enjoyable.

Enjoy!

My wife and I were at the parks today... Didn't see you but I hope you have a good time. The weather is starting to get better. It has been pretty crappy lately. Today turned out to be a great day.

Did you take part in any of the "Summer Nightastic" events?? We left at 3:00pm so we missed the shows.

Wow - that is a great thing to do :thumbsup2

So glad you and your family are enjoying your trip - I always say if mums happy - everyone is happy ;)

Enjoy the rest of your trip :)

:thumbsup2 :goodvibes there is no greater way to get a person's respect than to treat them with respect, give it to their family even more, their parent and thats top :thumbsup2. Going above and beyond like that, well they deserve the loyality they will surely receive from you. I am sure you will let the Hotel management know that when you leave too. This is the kind of stuff Lee talks about in his book. The bellman was alert to his customers needs, and that is soooo key. I love this stuff! Yay for you all!

Aside from the a place to sleep and shower, a lot comes down to services. If the nicest hotel offers crappy services, would you still stay? It sounds like the people there are top-notch and really know how to treat a customer. :thumbsup2 to the Sheraton Anaheim.
PS - I hope your mom is having a fabulous time!!!

That's wonderful Pete. Absolutely fantastic, and I'm glad they're taking such good care of your Mom.

I tell ya, service really can make or break a trip. It's good to hear that there actually are places that provide such good service.

That is so awesome!!! I love to hear about good things like that. We will keep it in mind since my sister has to use a scooter for her knee problems. :goodvibes

That is a great story. And it also goes to show that if you do a good dead you will get one back. As you said, the bellman had no idea that you would be sharing the experience with thousands of Disney fans who might just give them a shot if they need an affordable place to stay in California.

Awesome Pete!!

Glad to know that! :) glad to know they are taking good care of your mom too!

I've always found customer service and people in general to be friendlier in California than in Florida, but that may just be me.

It's great to hear stories like this. Many times we hear about the bad, but hearing the good is very uplifting.

Pete -
This is really great and I know for as much as you love your mom it made you feel so much more comfortable knowing she was comfortable.

Hope you are having a great time!

Seeing your post Pete restores my faith that Customer Service is not a thing of the past. Kuddos to the Sheraton and to the Bellman for making sure your Mom was taken care of.

When Mom is happy, everyone is happy!

Have a great time in Disneyland. I'm loving your FB updates. Can't wait for the April ABD trip! :)

So happy for you that your trip is off to such a fantastic start. :goodvibes

Good customer service can certainly make a trip much more enjoyable.

That's wonderful!

I am really glad to hear that they are taking care of you and your family.

BTW, was it you or Teresa talking trash.... Hmmmmm?
