Something my kids can use to carry stuff

My girls will be 5 when we go to WDW. They want to be able to carry their own things such as their mad money, thank you cards (we pass them out to cast members who make our day), and disposable cameras. What do your kids use? I was thinking of maybe a fanny pack. DH was thinking that we could hold their cameras and they could have something that attaches to a belt loop that can hold the cards and a small amount of $$. Any suggestions?

:dance3:

Thanks!

My DD who had just turned 6 was sure she would carry her fanny pack. It only lasted a day. :rotfl: I think a fanny pack is better than a back pack or small bag because they can't put them down and lose them. Good Luck!

On our first trip my kids were 5 and 7, and we bought them small fanny packs at Disney that have Mickey on them, and they're still using them on every trip (they're now 10 and 12). They're not real big so they're easy to wear, but there's room for some money, their sunglasses, autograph book and pen, and a small camera. I think we got them at the Emporium on Main Street.

I would go with the fanny pack. As mentioned above, they can't leave it somewhere :guilty: Just be prepared to add it to your bag ;)

One other bit of advice, if your girls are on the small size, bring large safety pins with you. DS picked out his Buzz Lightyear fanny pack when he was 5, and even though it was made for a child, the strap wouldn't shorten enough to fit him. It took some "creativity" and safety pins to make it fit :) He's still using it and is 10 now.

My girls have small backpacks. They are fabric and very small. We bought them in 2006 for our DL trip and they are still using them.

My kids are older, the youngest is 7, so :confused3 whether this will work for you. But we had them each carry one of those string backpacks. In it they had a camera, a sweatshirt and a water bottle. You could really tell they felt large and in charge to make up their own minds about their sweaters and not having to ask for a drink.

By the way, I'm from central Ohio, too, and we can't stand the water down there, so we went to a sporting goods store and bought filter bottles. They were great!

DD (7) has a tinkerbell purse w/a long strap that crosses over her body, has been using it for two years. its big enough for $, sunglasses, camera, lip gloss
small pad of paper & pencil for doddling to pass wait time. she knows she has to carry it and has never been a problem for her.

Adorable ~ I Love our girls w/ their fanny packs @ Disney :lovestruc they just look so serious rooting very quickly for prized possessions! DD 6.5 has a safari Mickey & dd 4 has a Winnie the Pooh, we bought them both last year at the Disney outlets for $7 or $8 each, I did still see the Pooh there last month, not sure of the Mickey, I am pretty sure you could call & ask, however I’m sorry I don’t have the #, offhand.

Also, as the OP said they didn’t quit fit, however I just tied a little knot in each & they were perfect ~ definitely didn’t bother the girls as they wear them all day!

Definitely go with fanny packs for everyone! Backpacks have to come off to go on rides and little ones will lose them or you will end up carrying them. The less you carry the quicker you can move, the more you can see and the less stress for everyone. Been ther done that with my kids many times and now my grandson who is 7.
