........for next year. To late to start this now and finish it by Christmas but just had this idea. We lost my mom in January of this year. She had lots of well loved dishes....favorites of all in the family. She cooked a lot by scratch but between my sister and niece we have been able to come up with how to do some of them. There is also a drawer full of recipes at her house that she used, I will go through those and pull out the favorites.
Now we all stopped exchanging gifts between the grown ups several years ago. But I'm thinking I am going to do this (work on it all next year) and give them to my sister, brother, 2 nieces and nephew. I'm going to put together a recipe book of mom's favorite/well loved meals. I'm thinking that along with it I will include some pictures and also some of the stories she told often. For instance; a picture of her as a child with other relative children and include a story there that she always told about her childhood. Maybe include a poem or two here or there that fit her and some of her sayings or old wives tales.
I think I'll do them and put them in a 3 ring binder, that way each family can add to and hand down to the next generations.
What do you all think? Would this be something you would like to receive in relation to your family?
If you've ever made something similar all tips, ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Cristy
