When going through security at airports, if you need to remove shoes, watches, bracelets, glasses, or any other small item, put them in your shoes not one of the boxes they provide. They will be less likely to be stolen, and you won't forget them and leave them there when you are finished security.

I put my items in my carry on bag before I get in line. That way I have less that I have to try and collect after sercurity. All I have to grab is my bag and shoes. I hate people who stand there and take everything off at the scanner belt. Do it before you get in line and don't hold others up.

FYI, you don't need to remove most jewelry or glasses. I always put small items inside my purse. Then I watch everything as it goes through the x ray; no chance for anything to go missing.

lost in cygerspace, I too have never had to removed my glasses or jewelery. However, I was watching a program about Miami International Airport, and this is what they suggested. They had a bin there with lost and found items that people had just left behind, so they must have been items people had to remove. This tip was suggested from the security personnal. Also, someome had their watch stolen after they removed it at security. I just thought it was a good tip.

Regarding the bolded... someone may have taken their watch and jewelry off on their own without being told to take it off.

The last time I flew (September), I forgot to take my watch off. After the body scanner, the TSA officer felt under my watch, I didn't have to take it off. They did this in both directions.

Yes, the tip of putting small items in shoes is a good one, depending on the item. I wouldn't put loose change in the shoe because I'd be afraid I'd miss one until I started walking.:rotfl2:
