Something funny I noticed about gift giving ...

My siblings and I do not exchange presents, per se. Neither do my friends and neighbors. However, I love buying bottles of wine and handing them out at Christmas. So, I bought a bottle for each of my brothers, my sister, my friend (I only have one  ), and a few of my neighbors. I handed out a total of 9 bottles. I, in turn, was given 9 bottles as gifts from siblings, friend, and neighbors. We could have all met at the liquor store and made things easy for ourself.
However, since I opened a bottle every time someone came over my house during the Christmas weekend, I opened every single one of them plus a few from my secret stash.

Everyone in my house got a $25 Itunes GC from someone else in the house... we could have just bought our own!

Hubby bought me a CD that I already had and I bought him one that he already had. So we exchanged them back and now we each have a copy of the same one.

Other than that, no duplicate gifts in our house. Although, we suspect that we're getting a digital camera from my in-laws and one for my sister and my parents (they chipped in together). We plan on keeping both if that is the case and then we'll each have our own.

My brother suggests we all throw cash into the center and dive for it. We typically get each other gift certificates. I suprised him with the new Tom Waits CD collection this year. He loves Tom Waits and didn't even know there was a new release.
