Something disturbed me at MGM today.

When I rode on both ToT and Rock'n Roller Coaster, there seemed to be a lack of safety checks. I know when I have gone in the past, the ToT CM's have you tug on your belts to make sure they are locked. Not today.
And on the coaster, they used to pull on your harness to make sure it was locked. Not today. A CM went by on one side and lightly touched the harnesses, but no one checked the other side.

Should I be concerned, or am I over-reacting?

Although I haven't seen it recently, I have seen it happen. One time I was one Big Thunder Mt. Railroad. In front of me was a father and his two kids, maybe 5-7. Well, the CMs didn't check the safety bars, so off we went, through the bat cave and as we started up the hill, the father made a comment to his kids along the lines of "I wonder when the bar's going to come down..." I leaned forward and told him he had to pull it down himself. Now I'm sure, had we begun to go over the hill and it STILL wasn't down he would have instinctively grabbed the bar. But still, wow. I was really surprised at the lack of concern in that particular instance.

Can they look at a computer screen or something to see who's buckled in or not? I'm pretty sure its more complex than tugging on the belt to make sure everyone's in- its done electronically, right?

I know on ToT there is a box outside of each elevator with lights on it and the light turns green when the belt is buckled. Im pretty sure all the CM has to do is look at the lights and he will know who is in. Last time we were there I remember them checking every ride though. It could also be that maybe they have a new sytem and it can all be done with a computer to check whether a buckle is fastened or a harness is down.
