wendy, i blew my big chance.
i could have horned in on you christmas night...............

i passed thru your area when i left belleville that night.
you are just east of 55.

and no places, not even a dump was open that night.......
good thing i had a box of chocolates in the car.

Lawrence, I am so sorry about DW's grandmother. I must've missed that being a lazy schlub and not doing the proper catching up. Prayers to you and your family.

Prayers to all the homies, whether you need it now or not. :grouphug:

where's the pictures of our new baby?
annie savannie needs to make another appearance here.

ok, it is time to flip a coin now.

heads say kfish is wasted
tails says she doesn't even have a buzz yet...........she's saving the pill for bedtime.

katie went for the final visit to the dentist for her bad tooth today at 3:30.

she hasn't checked in so not sure if she is in la la land yet.

i really want her to take a pic of herself with a crooked smile like bean #2 had

you are close to auburn/spfld, right?
they are getting hit hard now with the storm. a lot of power outages.

on the weather channel, i just saw the destruction of the tornado that went thru kenosha county. where it hit is maybe 20 minute drive from my place.

always get the tornadoes when the weather gets weird up here.

Yeah, we are only a few miles east of spfld.

The storm has lessened in intensity so hopefully we are out of the woods. there is some to come yet, but I think we will be ok. Still raining like crazy though.

I'm not exactly sure where you are, but I think you are north of chicago, closer to wi border. I thought maybe you would miss most of it, but then again there was some horrible tornado in wi a while ago too.

Got a call from my mom. The surgeon just popped in for a quick visit in Carol's room. He will be back in the morning to "discuss their game plan", but right now Carol is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday morning. I will be leaving tomorrow after I take Joshua to school to go spend some time with her. The gist of the conversation was that there is a greater than average risk that Carol may not survive surgery. Again, details are still sketchy at this point. I'm just trying to pass on what I know. I'll try to check in when I can. I still don't know if we are buying her time or if we are trying to get rid of the cancer. I get the feeling that at the rate the cancer is growing now, they feel that her time is very, very short if they don't do something drastic... so, basically they have nothing to lose by trying to remove it through surgery.

:rotfl:

Dentist was ok...never had 2 root canals at the same time and needless to say, they doped me up, but still got some of the zings.

I have two temporaries on right now...but in mucho pain. The gums are sore and bleeding (TMI I know)

But I took at Vic a lil while ago. So I'm very sleepy and kinda light-headed. My parents are being nice enough to let me use their bed tonite, so I don't have to climb into my bunk. (Yes, 25 and sleep in a bunk)

Thanks for your concern Mac

Yep, you could have easily stopped by. . . would've been only 6 miles out of your way. I would have gladly fed you too!! You could've been Santa. He had to eat nut brittle, chocolate kisses and something else, along with a old fashioned coca cola. Santa and Mrs. Claus were up until 3:00am wrapping those pretty presents, stuffing stockings and setting up bunny rabbit. Hey. . . we couldn't used your help!:flower3:

yup, i am in the NE corner on the lake in upper illinois.
the tornado hit about 20 minutes from here.
i'm a couple of miles from the WS/IL border. i watched the after effects of the tornado that touched down there.

umm, i went by your area during the night time of christmas day, like going on december 26th......

even the vending machines in I 55 sucked that night.

Not a good day around here today, huh?? 'Fraid I will be able to contribute to the 'bad news thread' .....
Bubba --->

........out first game :(

End of regulation of first game, tied 0-0. 30 seconds into 2min. overtime, Bubba (in goal) thought he could kick the ball out, but somehow it trickled in :sad2: ...other team won 1-0 :(

Odd thing is DH & I feel so much more disappointed than most of the boys....one boy was in tears :guilty: and Bubba was surprisingly upbeat. :confused3 We told him he did a great job and etc... (didn't want to blow his self-confidence).... Secretly, DH & I talked about how disappointed we were...IF he had only gotten down and grabbed the ball with his hands :sad2: ......who knows what would have happened.....

But, on the bright side (i think), next indoor session starts next week already...starting with clean slate :thumbsup2 AND next weekend starts his 'clinics'...so, he will finally get some training in goalkeeping :thumbsup2

I thought about Penny & Lawrence today   ....didn't forget you KFed :teeth:

Read about Carol and :sad1: (sent PM to Tricia)

Just wanted to let everyone know I have been reading and keeping up..... a big to everyone out there..... I cannot possible ketchup, but I have read and will try to do my best......

i forgot how i phrased it the first time i posted a reply to yours........
i just hate it when my posts go out to cyber space

i'm about a 20 minute drive to where the tornado touched down in WS.
i'm on the border of the 2 states in the NE corner.

Awwww...thanks mac..... they DID go undefeated for the season...this was their first loss...so, they can be proud NO team beat them until tonite ;) (yeah, i'll prolly cry tonite too)

Did you get all undecorated today??

Prolly 98% done!

Does anyone watch The Biggest Loser?

Yep....motivating show.... :thumbsup2

Okay, I am annoyed. I went through, read all the zillion pages I missed, multiquoted all the way through, got to the end, hit my final quote button and it said "cannot display page!":headache:

Just click on the 'back arrow' to go back a screen....you shouldn't lose what you just did....

I think I need you to give me lottery ticket numbers. I suck at it.

yep... i suck at it too....or else I'd have all FIVE numbers.... :lmao: (only had 4 out of the 5)

Can’t believe you are just now taking down the tree. Guess you had to make up for how early I had to take mine down. It felt good to have everything packed away & clean so early even if I did miss seeing it.

Janet is ignoring your smiley isn’t she!

We always take the tree down the first weekend of the year....when the 1st is on a Sat or Sun, I'm in trouble!! House looks so neekie w/o tree :guilty:

I just like to throw
banana-shake.gif
in there once in awhile for a laugh...he's cute.....

My dad had his 1 week of chemo done so far. It finished this past Friday. He is still weak. I think he is still depressed about all this. He is trying to recover from some kind of gland infection that he has. He needs to have follow- up bloodwork in a couple of weeks, etc.

 Hope he starts to feel a bit better and the infection clears up.....

i am thinking of running off with the pirate 'nanner though....arrgh, he's hot!

by all means....have at 'em.... ;)

this is my butt kicking smiley to help motivate all homies to do well on their diet.

Thanks for the thoughts and hugs everybody. Mac, I'm trying to keep a positive outlook. Until somebody says there is no hope, then I have hope. I hope that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense to me.... Go with it! ;)

Anyway, Brad's birthday is January 19th. I don't know if that counts. He's a homie-by-marriage I guess. :confused3

:rotfl2: okay then: DH is Wed. and Bubba is Jan. 20th!!

Hi all!
I've been reading a little bit tonight and I've got to give hugs to Penney, Lawrence, Rose, and Tricia :grouphug: I'm so sorry that all of you are going through these hard times. Tricia, I know it's terribly hard for you and your family, especially your parents, to see your sister like she is. I don't know if this will help or not, but I do know that a lot of doctors will not do surgery if they don't think there's a good chance of removing the cancer. I know when my sister-in-law was going through all of that, they said that surgery was out of the question because it had progressed too quickly and they tried to shrink it with radiation in hopes of possibly doing surgery. I'll be praying for you and Carol, along with the rest of your family, that everything goes well with the surgery!
More hugs! :grouphug:

To answer you about college plans...were still playing the waiting game. He is accepted at the 3 schools that he applied early acceptance. We won't hear about the 4th one that he applied regular decision until March I think. His top 2 choices still are Embry Riddle and Worcester Poly Tech. Even with the $50K merit scholarship he got at WPI, if you divide that by 4 years, the cost will still be about $48K a year.

:scared1: :scared1: I had no idea there were colleges that cost that much! Matt better get into the Air Force Academy, where it's free! Otherwise, I guess his next choices would be Wisconsin (Madison) or of course Green Bay (hey, it would be cheap!).

i have met marcie twice in person.
she is NOT fat
she is thin and trim

she even has muscles............

If I'm NOT fat, then Mac must be super-ultra NOT FAT! I will concede that I'm taller than her ;) , but certainly not any thinner! Although, I had lost almost 3 pounds at my weigh-in today!  But I didn't get a prize  - guess they phased them out this year now that I finally lost weight during one!

Marcie - thanks to you also for sharing your videos. DS has an amazing talent there.....is it something he just "picked up on?" Like how some people are athletically inclined...he is musically inclined? (just smack me if that doesn't make any sense - have not had coffee yet)

He's actually one of these wacky kids who's "everything" inclined. Example - oldest DS and I wanted to learn to snowboard. Went out about 10 times each season and after 2 years we were slightly proficient. Eric (then 6) decided he wanted to learn. Got him a board on Saturday - he taught himself Saturday through Monday. Tuesday we took lessons - had signed him up for beginners (older DS and I for intermediate). They immediately moved him to advanced beginners. At lunch break, moved him up into our class! :confused3 Yeah, we've been doing it 2 years, him 2 days!

As I mentioned with piano, and almost any instrument, it just comes naturally. Middle DS plays the flute and band director has him switching over to sax. He's been going in several days a week for lessons for about 2 months. Brought the sax home for the first time over Christmas and it took Eric about an hour to be far better than middle DS is.

Same when they learned to ride 2 wheelers. Middle DS was 5. Spent all summer trying and trying. One day Eric (then 3) decided to try. Got on and rode in about 2 attempts. You can imagine how easy this all is on my middle son!

marci - sound like a keeper of a trip. who'd you buy your trip insurance with, sounds reasonable. We use CSA, will let yinz guys know if they pay off on my medical claim from the cruise. FYI, a PT cruiser is TINY, passenger space & the smallest cargo area i've seen...even the old Suzuki Swift I used to have had more room. We couldn't even fit 2 suitcases in the back when we got stuck with it one trip...youngest DS had to sit on luggage...as in it wouldn't fit in on the floor between the front seats & beginning of bench seat...that's small imo

We bought it through Travelguard, who we've used for our last couple cruises and Disney trip. Never needed anything so not sure if they're good. They do cover kids for free though (which for 3 kids helps a lot!). This is basic coverage - cancel for covered reasons (illness/death of family, etc.), trip interruption, if the airline goes under, etc. Didn't pay extra for the additional air evacuation (shouldn't need that in Boston!) or cancel for any reason you want or more luggage allowance, etc. We did reserve a minivan because we had not a lot of room in WDW even in a Standard SUV!

Carol just called me in tears. She saw the doctor before starting her chemo treatments. The doctor said her cancer has grown significantly in the 2 weeks that she was off treatment. She is being admitted into the hospital for tests. They want to do surgery right away to get what they can of the cancer. It sounds like it is a last ditch effort to give her more time, but that there is no hope they can rid her of it.

Like others said Tricia, I just don't even know what to say. I'm so sorry! Lame, but it's the best I can come up with. Of course she's in our prayers, and keep us updated as you get anything.

Isn't it funny how we can be late but still check in here!

Well, duh?! :confused3 We've got priorities! :rotfl:

i know everyone is sad today.
i was hoping to lift the mood.............hey, where's marcie with the videos? that'll work

what are you dates for the trip?

Sorry, no funny videos today! :upsidedow Did that help? And as far as the trip dates? We're going over the Easter break - flying out early Good Friday morning (3/21) and coming back the following Saturday late afternoon (3/29).

It's storming super bad here. . . who's heard of a thunder storm and tornados in January in Illinois????:confused3 Guess it goes along with the 68 degress shirt-sleeves weather my kids have enjoyed so very much the last couple of days. We are under some severe storm warnings and tornado watches.

I couldn't believe the storms here today either. But we certainly never got the 68 degree weather! No, we had that wonderful 37 degrees with thunderstorms! I agree - not normal in January, but it poured and poured and poured and thundered and lightning'd (sp?) for hours. Not good for ski conditions either!

End of regulation of first game, tied 0-0. 30 seconds into 2min. overtime, Bubba (in goal) thought he could kick the ball out, but somehow it trickled in :sad2: ...other team won 1-0 :(

Wow, Barb - similar story here! DS15 just started a new season of indoor. This time they moved up to the Varsity level (been playing JV) and now get to play on the big field with the BIG kids. They held their own Friday night and it was 2-2 going down to the wire. Last minute of the game (DS plays defense) he got the ball, and passed it back to our goalie. Who unfortunately didn't happen to be looking at the time and it went in! Our goal of course! Now, I know this happens when they're 8 and 9, but not when they're 15 and 16. Unlike your son, he was crushed and wouldn't even talk about the game. And unfortunately, probably all the other boys blame him. At least it wasn't a playoff game, but he wasn't a happy camper either. But he's over it now and hopefully Bubba won't even think about it when the next season starts!

Hi, just a quick good night because I'm gonna be out like a light. Think I'll be OK, so lets keep out fingers crossed!! And I got a meet tomorrow...

Wish us luck!!!

Good luck! Glad you survived the root canals and hope everything goes great with the recovery!

Are we the only ones watching the BCS game or is that where everyone who's missing from the thread is?

Catch you all again tomorrow! Hang in there everyone who needs it! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

We got thru the funeral ok but as most of you know I have been having an allergic reaction to something and its not any better cause I woke up sunday and my left eye was red and itching and to make a long story short we were at DW grandmothers visition and had to leave early cause my left eye started swelling underneath real bad and made a mad dash to the emercency room where the doctor asked if I had any pets and I told him yes and so you can guess I am having a reaction to my dog:scared1: and that wasn't the worse of it the check my eye and said where I was rubbing it I scratched the cornia and now I have to use eye drops and some kinda antibotic eye cream but nothing for the pain.
sorry don't want to burden you guy and have a great night cause my eye is killing me so I can't focus too long on anything.

 my gosh Marcie.... how awful!! That's a shame.... I honestly don't think Ryan has a competitive bone in his body :rotfl: At the team huddle after the game, everyone was listening to coach and he was telling them how great they did this season...and Ryan chimes in "Hey..it's only 1 game" Maybe he gets his optimism from Mom?? :confused3 (i certainly hope so)

well... i think all our threaders could use some mummydust tonight...weather it's an illness of a loved one or your own, the weather, struggling with those New Year's resolutions or whatnot.... :wizard: for all the SAN homies :grouphug:

Tomorrow is another day....going to be a bright, good day for a change! :thumbsup2 Think positive :goodvibes

Nite all....catch you in the AM!

ETA: Lawrence, that's a shame....guess you didn't know you were allergic to puppies :( You can take allergy meds so you can keep him....sorry to hear you still feel bad, but at least they know what the problem is!

Yeah the doctor said should not be a problem just as long as when ever I touch him I don't rub my face or eyes but it was a shocker since I have owned a bunch of dogs over the years so go figure the smallest and most loved by the family make me sick but what can you do can't get rid of him DW and DS's love him too much and ok I will admit it I love the little booger too:lmao:

:rotfl2: okay then: DH is Wed. and Bubba is Jan. 20th!!

i'm looking for a trophy smilie for ryan.
i know i saw it somewhere....

i tried the back arrow barb and mine was zapped....

i'll start the list of homies and homies by blood and marriage....

i would like to post the birthday banners each month on the first.
and then repeat it on the ides again. not everyone reads back.

january listing will be out this week.
for the homies that post, i just know of penny and marcie.
penny did not give me her date, just said the end of the month.
marcie forgot to give her date also.

if i don't have a date for the birthday person, then i don't list a date then.

that is true alison.
my brother had a second bout of cancer due to the radiation he received on the first health matter.

it makes sense.
doctors would only do the 2nd surgery to remove the tumors if they felt it would help improve the patient and give them another chance.

marcie, i would think madison would be cheap for you as you live in state.
we sent one son to whitewater, ws for u of ws and it ran us $19k as we are out of state. i think instate kids can get by on 5K a year.

madison is one of the cheaper universities. don't know about greenbay.
when one son was at whitewater, he was also national guard. the rotc payments are based on the rate of costs at madison. whitewater school is much higher than that school.

college is not cheap anymore.

was watching the osu game............let's not talk about it....

travelguard is the insurance i used for son when he was in mexico.
its cheap and reliable.

Thank you'
