DM - oldest DS bought an old Lumina when he graduated HS, put another 100,000 miles on it & still got a decent trade-in for it....they run like tanks.:thumbsup2 [/SIZE]
I used to have a Corolla. I got it used with 24k miles on it. I added 160k miles to it and it still ran great. :)

morning homies and the man homie with the kewl car...........

hope all are doing fine.
it's cold here and we are expecting more snow.

penny and janet, send me your email address and i can help finish what i did in the pm to you. it is more secure that way.

can i vote twice?

in chicago, they always say vote early and often........

Goodness, sorry I haven't read everything. I feel like I'm always saying that!

Tracie, so sorry about your accident. :grouphug: That just sux.

DM, congrats on your new wheels!

Janet, I am totally in on the "anybody but the Pats." BIL and SIL love the Pats, and I do dread football season up there. Let someone else win for a change! Cheaters.

Sharon, I am embarrassed to admit this, but I won't have a car up in Maine as Mike insists we take his car and I can't drive a stick. :scared1: No one has the patience to teach me, and I don't blame them, really. I hate that I'm a bit trapped up there. I would love to meet up for coffee or whatnot; perhaps in the spring when Mike lets me drive my car? (His handles better in the snow.)

OK, I'm sorry I haven't gone back to read everything. Mike and I had a busy day yesterday and one is starting today then we leave for Maine tomorrow morning. So, please let me just say that I do hope everyone had the very merriest of Christmases. Please stay healthy and safe and enjoy the New Year festivities!

(BTW, had my niece overnight on Christmas night into Wednesday ... here is reason 4,957 why I do not have children: had her put on deodorant. Forgot to make her brush her teeth in the morning. She's 6. Didn't remember that she didn't brush her teeth till I shipped her home to mom and forgot to pack her toothbrush. We did have a nice day though of Alvin & the Chipmunks -- dumb, but she loved it. We also did a mani/pedi. Geez it's hard getting a 6-year-old to sit still long enough for her nails to dry.)

Ha - ex had a red toyota corolla beater (stick, never did learn how to drive it-think that was the plan to keep me from using it - ha!) It didn't quite reach 200 K, good runner though.

my electric & gas bill will be more than my mortgage payment next month, and will remain the same until we see the sun again in western pa.

jodie - ME sounds positively dreamy, don't forget to come back:goodvibes fyi - it's the best part of being an auntie; spoil them rotten, wire them on sugar & send them on their way:laughing: . Poor me, all sons:rolleyes1 ; would take each niece overnight & do the princess bit. One never had her hair curled or nails painted 'till i got my paws on her. Ex sil made sure to tell me it was a waste of time & effort. imo every child needs to feel special sometimes.

I am trying to shovel out my house. Find somewhere to stick the new toys... get rid of the boxes... all that fun stuff. I am hosting the family Christmas party tomorrow afternoon.

How did that happen? I don't actually remember making the plans. It just kinda evolved. :confused3

Of course, for everything that I put away (to many whines of "I want to play with that now"), I have something else that seems to appear. Did we give the kids tribble toys? :scared1:

I can't even begin to clean because I can't find the floor yet. Once I find the floor and vacuum it, I still have to make food.

Again, how did this happen?

must be a dis problem or glitch today.

have not been able to connect to the thread to post.

Tricia, how on earth did you end up hosting that party?
I thought you had them all in turkey day?

any more news on the wedding outfits?
what are you wearing?

the roads were horrendous tonight.
saw a saab whose entire front end was in a snowbank
dont think the driver is going to get that car out.....

lots of folks excited about the game being on tv.
hope it is a close one and not a 40-0 blowout.

all you folks in snow weather states:
is it me or does there seem to be 3 times as much laundry???????

so much for steak on the grtill. it would mean grilling in snow. take out menu being perused as we speak.

we grill in the snow, just not in as much as Penny gets;)

actually, missed our 1st & thus far only accumulation over an inch or so while we were cruisin:woohoo: ; wonder if our luck will hold? Better-bad dog ate my boots last year...i'll be snowbound or have cold wet tootsies. Tried on a pair of mock-Uggs; made me look like a tree trunk.

Tricia - Friday afternoon Xmas party? Yinz guys all must have a loooong weekend. Just crunch down the wrapping paper & call it new carpet.:thumbsup2 I'm laying low, trying to get out of New Year's Eve hosting duties.

you're just lucky i guess.........

the only thing i do for new years eve is watch tv.

i'm always glued to it until the ball falls.........

janet, i grill year round also.
have my weber on a patio slab that has an awning type roof over it.
open on 3 sides.

keeps the rain/snow/sleet off of me when i'm grilling

in the summer time i use it to bake the frozen pizzas or garlic bread
it's just like an oven

u r smart, we are not:rolleyes1

our cheap-o of the cheap-o gas grills (Charbroil?) sits @ the far end of our yard nearly hidden by our above-ground pool; all by it's lonesome on a pitiful slab of concrete. I have a unfounded fear of it blowing up:guilty: . I wear my jungle hat when the weather is inclement & have @ it. When i used to sneak a smoke it was a great place to hide, ducked down behind the pool.:lmao:of course it didn't bother me to light up around an open gas flame:upsidedow .

Hey homies just dropped by to do catch up and say hi:dance3:

we grill year round.

or should i say, the old man does:rotfl2:
I, admittingly being anal, am kinda terrified of grilling.
not sure if it is the: knock the thing over burn house down thing, or: catch myself on fire and change skin tone kinda thing....:furious:

called the docs today- i have the sore throat again and still a sinus infection and called and said, okay, last day of meds, i need to be seen. and they gave me 815 friday morning.
hoping another round of zithromax will do it. allergic to cillins and sulphites so lots of stuff cannot have...... :rolleyes1

Are we back?

What happened? I tried to connect to the DIS a few times earlier, but nothing. :confused3

Yes, I did host Thanksgiving. If I could figure out how I wound up hosting Christmas too, I would tell you... but I don't really know how it happened. Everyone just started talking about "getting together" and that evolved into "What time should we be there?" Here? As in here here? As in my house? Oh, well how about 1pm... :sad2:

We pick up the tuxes for the boys on January 2nd and have allowed time for any last minute alterations. SIL assures me that a "little black dress" and suit for Brad will be fine for the ceremony. The rehearsl is NOT formal, just nice dress. We're going to dinner at a Maggiano's Little Italy, so it can't be too dressy. Brad gets to get away with slacks and a nice shirt. I'll still have to wear a skirt or something girly. I don't do girly often. I think I have found a shirt that will work for the boy diva. Kinda looks like orange sherbet to me, but he's happy. Now, if I can just get him some shoes, we're set... :headache:

Oh, and we always close down for the week between Christmas and New Year's. Brad rarely gets any time away from the office, so this is a rare and wonderful thing... especially since we extended it to closing for TWO weeks this year... you know, with Idiot Nephew's wedding and all that...
