Guess who threw caution to the wind and changed his ressie from the Pop Century to RPH, but will still be in Disney on his birthday? Any guesses?

Here are a couple of band concert pics of Matthew from the band concert last week. He plays clarinet. DH took the pics since he had the better angle.

Thanks, SharkyGoddess :)
DS is in 6th grade band, so we are not doing band trips yet, just a couple of concerts a yr and taking him to afterschool band rehearsals once a week. I don't know how much traveling 7th grade band will have(I don't think much). I know the 8th grade band does a little traveling to places. And of course HS band will have some traveling. Taking it one yr at a time with DS. He seems to be really interested to continue for next yr. I would like him to continue as much as possible as long as he enjoys band :)
I know Marcie has a couple of sons in band :)

Hey, I guess us band moms unite!

:thumbsup2 Congrats.

Since DH won the free Superbowl tickets, I'm working on him going right before Christmas for his free b-day at Disney and then Uni for his other free day.

In our school system, we have such a great music dept 4th grade through 12that our students have been asked by colleges if they are from performing arts schools.

Every 4 yrs, they go to Disney to perform. Last year, they were told that it was the 1st time that an orchestra had ever gotten a standing ovation from a crowd.:thumbsup2

My DD will be a senior and DS will be a Sophomore on the next trip. Guess who will be chaperoning that one?:rotfl:

Next trip for the middle school kids will be Cedar Point's Music in the Parks contest--last year they won in all 9 competitions and took overall (even beat the high schools that were there for that honor)

If the kid is in strings 6-8, they go. Chorus only 8th. Any Jazz. Band only those invited or 8th.:)

 VERY COOL!!!! I have to say, I love our band directors, but I see where they need some improvement, and our school system REALLY needs to get their heads out of their bums and support our bands better. We've got some great kids with some great talent and very little backing. Be thankful your schools are so so well supported :goodvibes

Sharky, it's funny you mentioned you and your DH chaperone at band trips, etc. I know this is a little TMI, but whan I was growing up, my parents didn't get involved much with my afterschool activities :guilty:
I am an only child. My dad was always working 3 jobs, hardly was home, home only on some Sundays. My mom was always going to school or working at my dad's business. So I was always the drop off/ pick up kid when I was in school chorus and other activities I was in.
Seeing how I didn't like it that much when I was growing up, I am opposite, as I get pretty involved with my kids' activities. Being a SAHM mom helps :)

Good morning all :)

I do have a nasty sinus headache right now. Trying to get rid of it.

Have a good day.

good saturday afternoon homies.....

we have a HEAT wave going on here........woo hoo......

i think this means i need to go to the car wash.........
time to get the salt and grim off the car.

Rose, lots of kids grew up with limited or no parent involvement. that is how it was years ago. my brothers and i had limited interaction with the parental units and turned out fine. you'll find out, there are really a lot of people in the world that did not have supportive family units growing up.

what you do is change your life to what is best for you. once you have kids, you don't have to repeat the way the parental units reared the family.
you have the option of not repeating the style you were raised.

i am now crossing my fingers that this will be the february thaw here.
i wanna have all the dirty snow melt before we get another batch of it....:goodvibes

now i don't have to worry about shopping for that winter coat i put off last fall. i can get more miles on my windbreaker if this weather holds like it is today!! a balmy 52 degrees...

Happy Weekend all ...

:thumbsup2 ... especially if you got a great deal. Unfortunately for us, Disney is a better deal with our AP discounts so that's where we stay.

We really enjoy going on all the trips. I love music, and enjoyed the sports too that my kids have been involved in too. Plus, I believe this has been a wonderful experience for our little guy too, exposing him to all sorts of different places and people. Wouldn't it be funny if we've all crossed paths and not even known it? :)
