Something About Nothing............ #14

GhostMorning all!

Older one turns 27 next week. Yep, Election Day baby that year.
lol have been told by OB nurses that there are mini baby booms borne 9 months after many holidays.

I've 2 of those "Halloween" babies, imagine that...me, getting frisky then 👻lol
I bought a load of Olaplex shampoo in Orlando so have only been using that since we got home so my hair does feel fabulous, amazing shampoo, you only need the tiniest of blobs on your hand as it lathers really well, same with conditioner, a little goes a long way!!!
lol I immediately thot of the slogan fir the hair cream my Dad used back in the day

It's true, too much is just wasting that miracle product.

Funny, I'm sitting with shower cap on, marinating with the deep conditioner

Thot ur jab today, salon sounds funner!
Last night dh and I were discussing transportation options for our Disney trip in March. Local flights are outrageously priced
Depending on airline, unless you see a fire sale between now & then, ck for sales on:

Black Friday (sales that often start up to a week prior), cyber Monday & travel tuesday

The rental car idea might be your best choice if you can grab a great rate.

Make sure to check with the mr's employer to see if they negotiated a good corporate rate with one of the rental car agencies. I really miss using the mr's after he retired.

I hope you were able to get the event you wanted. I would love to see the candlelight processional, but don’t know when we will get back to Disney in December again.
We did! Have seen Whoopi several times as the celebs tend to return same time frames. She does a great job.

You should try to work in one year, bet you'd love it. Sea world does a great show with live nativity too!

I look forward to it every year, helps me reset my mind and remember the original reason for the season

Thus far, Neil Patrick Harris our favorite, followed by Josh Gad. John Stamos was very good. Surprisingly, Matt Bomer was also strong as narrator.

Sadly, Chita Rivera & eartha kitt were disappointing. not of strong voice and appeared to be phoning it in, it's such a inspirational and faith affirming show, difficult to imagine that happening

Our dates haven't lined up with some of the other heavy hitters: Brendan Fraser, Edward James Olmos or, Gary Sinise - who is said to really do a great job

Unfortunately my only choice is American if I use my flight miles which I hope to do.
I hadn’t thought about Black Friday for airlines. I will definitely check that out.

I get an alumni discount. I will check with him to see if he gets an employee discount.

I would love to go back at Christmas sometime.

I am so ready for my vacation right now. There is a man who keeps calling trying to schedule an appointment, but my boss is not taking new Medicare clients. He insists his plan isn’t Medicare, but his insurance company says it is. The man is annoyingly persistent. I don’t know why my boss is the only therapist he will consider. I have already told him that she has a waitlist and it could be several weeks or longer before we can schedule.

We saw Brendan Fraser twice, and Neil Patrick Harris once. Think I might have needed a tissue, the last time we saw Fraser. We know better than not buy the meal and ticket, and get there early to the line, when a popular narrator.

True. This hump of day feeling, Wednesday, means one more sleep and Friday is a day away. You know, the start of November this coming Friday. And time change weekend for us. Standard time we are going back to for about 6 months. Sigh. Back to so dark a morning commuter, that is that very dark navy or black pick, that ooh it’s not black when I get into the office.

At least only working two days this week. Next week, though a full one, before that holiday Monday gives me a three day one the week after.

Time is going so fast. October flew by so fast, almost shocked it’s Halloween tomorrow. Hoping a 59 minutes earlier one, as commuting day.

And we have a warming trend. 76 the high today, 78 tomorrow. Weather lady said, for afternoon parties, will be close to 80, just after dinner trick or treaters will have 70- 73 feeling. Yay, no heavy blanket we have used when it’s been much colder. Will park DH out there with me, as we like seeing the trick or treaters costumes. We hand out full size bars. Got two boxes this year, as ran out of large bars and had to use fun sized ones for the last that came. We had twice as many last year. And for the first time, I think we will try to find that perfect pumpkin today, as forgot to pick them up earlier, like we tend to do. And a hair salon visit late this afternoon too.

Most Wonderful Wednesday to all.

Ooh, 56 days is :santa:. ::yes::

Woke up at 4:30 and have not been able to get back to sleep. >:(
I can’t seem to shut my brain off.
Last night dh and I were discussing transportation options for our Disney trip in March. Local flights are outrageously priced. Flights from my airport start at $753 or 75K flight miles. And that’s an economy flight. Right now it’s looking like we may have to fly out of DC (Reagan) just to get a reasonable rate. It’s a long drive, so we will want to drive up the day before and stay at a hotel overnight and do the same on the way back. Of course the closer you stay to DC the more expensive the hotels get plus the price of parking for a week. Then it hit me - we could rent a car and turn it in at the airport before we leave and then rent again when we return. That way we could stay at a less expensive hotel a little farther from the airport and not have to worry about parking fees. I’m still hoping that the rates will drop and we can fly locally though.

I hope you were able to get the event you wanted. I would love to see the candlelight processional, but don’t know when we will get back to Disney in December again.

Still looks pretty. I hate that the trees will be bare soon. I wish the color lasted a little longer.

Happy early birthday to him. B was due close to election day but didn’t arrive until several days later.

Almost time for me to get up and start the day. Maybe I can sneak in a nap at lunch.

Sounds like some good plans in place for that trip Charade! Staying at a hotel the night before is always lovely and extends a trip. Is it just the two of you in March?

Yes, that trees do still look beautiful, I love the colours this time of year and we do have some gorgeous trees around us, some are evergreen so it never looks completely bare once they do lose their leaves.

I love Gary Sinise!!! He is such a superstar and as most of us have Military members in our families, he is certainly appreciated!!

I don`t know the advert you reference but can imagine there`s a blob in there somewhere lol....yes, miracle product is a good description, expensive for such small bottles, but they will last for ages and so much better than generic store bought shampoo/conditioner.

Hope you enjoyed your conditioning treatment, it is lovely doing things like that and avoids that scarecrow hair some get that don`t look after their hair. Popular day for hair it seems, again.....

September baby here!!! No need for explanations there!

Unfortunately my only choice is American if I use my flight miles which I hope to do.

You don`t have long to wait Charade, sounds like you are more than ready for a trip! Dealing with people like that.....ugh!! Hope your day goes well and you`re not too tired with the lack of sleep, it catches up!!

Hair appointment was lovely!!! Four hours of complete and utter pampering and relaxation and a new gorgeous style (even if I say so myself) shorter again with a darker shade for winter approaching. It`s shiny and swooshy and my bestest friend says it`s a little sassy ☺️her words not mine!!!!

Then got the flu/covid jabs, sat down and done in 20 seconds, thought she was priming the arms ready for the jabs when she said I was done, nurses like that are priceless.

Dropped into the village hall with the goodies and treats and there wasn`t much to do for tomorrow, so we came home and had a cuppa, we had kept back some of the goods I had baked that didn`t look as good as the others, but kids won`t notice whether they`re fancy or not.

And Thai Chicken Curry is already made for dinner tonight, will make up some coconut rice to go with it later and we still have some goodies for later then scary movie night again!!

4.20pm and it`s almost dark.....house is cosy though!!

I need to shop tomorrow for more loads of candy.
Have to be prepared for the trick and treat kids we will get at end of this month.

(I was totally prepared for it but Mr Mac has eaten half of what I have in the bowls)

Watching the world series now on tv, should be an interesting game.

There is a man who keeps calling trying to schedule an appointment, but my boss is not taking new Medicare clients. He insists his plan isn’t Medicare, but his insurance company says it is.
Odd indeed. Is that provider opting out entirely of Medicare or just not accepting new patients with it?

It can be so confusing to consumers, I have talked to several people who swear they aren’t on Medicare. Meanwhile, older than me and no longer working. It turns out, they are actually in a Medicare advantage PPO plan or a HMO. They look at the card provided and see BCBS, Humana, UHC etc. in large print and figure that’s their insurer.

All they need to do is turn that card over & read the ‘fine print’, it’s clearly stated it’s alternative Medicare coverage. Maybe that will help explain it to he who won’t be convinced lol.

We know better than not buy the meal and ticket, and get there early to the line, when a popular narrator.
Also, odd. Unless you are talking the last show of the night, even then, it’s quite dicey to wait in that standby line. Otherwise, will proclaim you a lucky duck among most, who bemoan they had to stand outside the theater for the show since seating was full.

So many noobs this year are indicating since they are buying the package, not about to wait in line for entrance in the reserved line. Planning on not showing up until 10 - 15 minutes prior. SMH, they are so adamant, don’t want to believe they already will have started to seat as many standby guests as they can at that point.

I never gave it much thought as to not doing the package for CP. we don’t eat @ many TS in the parks, unless family lobbies. Do have our favorites @ both WDW & U but, like to duck out of the bubble for a breather.

I do enjoy picking among a few favored venues in Epcot for the pkg. Usually Biergarten, after a less than stellar meal @ Le Cellier a couple of years ago & Coral Reef before that.

We enjoy the holiday decorations/song list from Biergarten’s in-house band that time of year…oompah. Very immersive. Even mr picky finds food on the buffet he will eat. Can’t go wrong with a giant stein of beer.

This year, they shucked the appetizer from the pkg and went with an entree, dessert & adult beverage.

Somebody worked up a spread sheet and posted in the CP booking thread here. Factoring in the alcoholic drink, which is easily $15 & up; the surcharge is in $10 up to $20 range for many of the venues, depending on what you order. Of course, there are always the pricier options.

It’s convenient and a deal in my mind, especially as it saves me time. so many are reporting they were shut out & are stalking for cancellations. It’s mind-boggling how popular the special events have become since covid…such a FOMO.

Popular day for hair it seems, again
Hair today, gone tomorrow. I noticed some roots poking out today, only 5 weeks. Weird, as I often can go 2 to 3 months. Guess it’s time to book an appt for pre Thanksgiving.

RE: Halloween candy, sticking with what is popular with the kiddos. Did finally find on amazon the white chocolate Oreo Hershey bars that go over big with the kids, in the shape of vampire teeth.

Made up 100 baggies that include them, the gummy Spongebob “sandwiches”, snickers/hershey/mars minis & some miscellaneous sealed candy.

For kids that can’t do chocolate, more than one would think??? Have skittles, lifesaver gummies & pre pkg pretzels or Cheetos, enough for at least 200 more.

I do hope for leftovers :) although, breaking another heat record tomorrow (80+) and no rain, the monsters will be out in droves. Expect more than the approx 200 we usually get.

I want to visit your house at Halloween!!!

Although can I miss out the Hershey chocolate :duck:

I made my Christmas appointment yesterday, she is already filling up and has been for a few weeks now, I`ll get a little tidy up in between if it needs it. Or maybe a stand alone Olaplex treatment, even though I just got up, it still feels bouncy and swishy this morning!!

Nothing worse than seeing those roots creep through, doesn`t matter what colour, you can still see that difference!!

No adverse reaction to either jabs, my left arm is slightly tender, not really painful and the other arm is fine so I`ll call that a win. I did fall asleep at 8ish last night, woke up an hour and a half later and went to bed and slept solidly till around 5.30.

Chilly outside this morning, just starting to show a little light out there, going to be a sunny one but not as mild as the last few days, nice night for the kiddies out for Halloween at least. I think we have 35 going to the hall for the party, they always enjoy it which is lovely and considering some of their ages, they have excellent costumes!! And yes, we do get the occasional Michael Myers even in the younger kids, but they look so cute carrying a pumpkin basket instead of a knife!

Witches cape and hat for the helpers tonight, nothing fancy for us.

Will grab something quick before the party as it starts at 5.45 then have a snack when we come in, depending on how many we have to clear up will see how quickly we get home.

Time for that first pot of tea!

Happy Thursday and.....of course...🎃

Yay, Thursday, full day of glorious sunshine, and already 60 degrees out. 80 they are predicting this late afternoon. Woot! 59 minutes earlier leaving today. And ooh, that leftover candy has already started in the office. Hmm, that mini chocolate bar may be a good snack, may go get it soon, as by lunchtime, most of it may be gone. Hehe.

Thirsty Thursday, and on round two of my hot coffee, that isn’t so hot by the time I get to drinking it.

Not quite. Taking a break from prep to down a raisin bagel.

even tho I'm next up making a raw veggie tray for later, it's going to be a carb load sort of day. Will skip lunch & go directly to Pizza for early dinner & a hoagie

Carole I'm appreciating that your side of the pond is starting to embrace 'the fun holiday' 👻.

We all need to do our part to keep the world safe: a candy a day, Keeps the monsters away!

It does not feel like the end of October here. It is so warm today. It will be a good night for trick or treating.

And time change weekend for us.
I so hate this.

We hand out full size bars.
We used to when there were only a few children in the neighborhood. Now it’s fun size bars.
Is it just the two of you in March?
B is going to come too if she gets the time off.

sounds like you are more than ready for a trip!
Yes I am! It will be so nice to get away even if it’s just for a few days.

Odd indeed. Is that provider opting out entirely of Medicare or just not accepting new patients with it?
Just not accepting new Medicare patients. The inly reason she opted in to Medicare was because she had several clients who were paying out of pocket. She decided to take Medicare for them, but did not want to add any new Medicare clients.

His plan is an Advantage plan, but he kept arguing with me about it. He kept telling me that I was talking to the wrong people. He was supposed to call back and give me the “correct” number to call, bit I have not heard from him since yesterday afternoon.

You must be in one of those neighborhoods where kids from other areas come to ToT. We may get a couple of dozen kids where I live.

I should get back to work but I really don’t have anything to do today.

Like the meme!!

Yes, we do try but it`s just not the same as America does it. There are some homes that go all out and they are very impressive, kids costumes are a lot more detailed than we had as kids, stores have decorations, outfits and masks, but it`s still not huge over here.

I`m liking the sound of pizza and a hoagie!! I actually picked up a ready made pizza today (shock horror) It had been recommended to us, I did open the box and not overly impressed I have to say, but will give it a bash when we come in tonight. It`s from our local deli, new range of theirs, but not convinced. BBQ chicken, hot honey and proscuitto. I will make a rocket (arugula) salad to go with it, should fill a hole at least.

Have a great Halloween hope you can give the kiddies lots of candy and scares too!!

We`re the same again Charade, far too warm for this time of year, but we`ll make the most of it and it is chillier at nights which we do like at this time of year.

That`ll be lovely if you can get a trip with the three of you, it`ll be too soon before they don`t travel with parents anymore, but always nice to just be a couple again. And your countdown is ever closer each day!!!

Got some shopping done, picked up some lovely things for the weekend, got a wine delivery, always enjoy seeing that email that it`s being delivered, popped into the village hall and everything looks good for tonight, I think we did a good job decorating it, back home and trying to chat to my sister but she is so busy right now, the joys of being retired when your time is your own!!!

It`s a gorgeous day here, bifold doors are wide open here in the kitchen, but they`ll be closed soon as the sun is already low-ish. Then later we head for the Halloween party, should be fun!! We`re only doing the first hour, group 2 said they`ll do the last hour and clean up as we did all the prep and set up, fair enough!!

Then home for a deli bought pizza, salad bottle of red wine and the original 1978 Halloween movie tonight!!! 😱

It did turn chilly tonight, perfect for Halloween!

Kids party was good, we ended up staying the whole time helped clear up then some us went to the pub for one drink, it was a nice little decompression from over 40 excited kids!

The single winner for the best costume was a little guy aged 5 who dressed up as Frankensteins Monster, he was so cute and the winning duo were dressed as Dorothy and the Scarecrow but think more Harley Quinn meets the Joker, they were all very good and aged about 8. Special prize went to a little girl aged 6 who was the best Christmas tree ever, I wish I could show a picture, parents were very inventive.

We grabbed a pizza when we came in and it was very nice, bottle of wine and Halloween were perfect for tonight.

Tomorrow we have to go to one of our butchers for some stuff we ordered from them, they said it would be sorted for tomorrow morning, so I think once we do that, we have nothing else planned.

November tomorrow, heck on a deck, October really did zoom past.

One more scary movie coming up and the rest of our wine......🍷

Safe travels tomorrow Ruth, have a wonderful trip!!!!

And a very good morning, November 1st and we have sunshine, a little frosty but it`s a beautiful morning.

Breakfast, butcher for our order and then a walk I think before this weather changes and it gets really cold, might go down to the beach today, last few days that some of the seasonal cafe`s stay open, might have a marshmallow and cream hot chocolate`s while we`re there, or maybe just a pot of tea!!

T Bone steaks for dinner tonight, butcher said they were huge so maybe one between us will be enough, will have a look at them when we get the order, will do chunky chips, salad and will make up some coleslaw to go with it. Lunch will be turkey open sandwiches and I have some sircha olives stuffed with garlic, they`ll go nicely together.

Breakfast first, just croissants and fruit and plenty of tea for a chilly morning.

Have a lovely Friday!

Having a drizzle type of rain now.
A bit chilly outside here.

I got up early as workers were to be at my house at 8 this morning.

Crew just waited outside in the drizzle rain for the boss to show up.

We are having the deck boards replaced

Noticed the crew left….
The boxed supplies have not been opened.

No problem… they will show up eventually

Good Friday morning everyone :wave2:

The necklace, earrings and bracelet are beautiful!

You have great talent Robbie!
Thank you Mac. I made a Grinch set for my sister K. She liked them.

Lovely gifts Robbie, yes I`m doing quite well with Christmas presents this year, I made a good start before we left and managed to pick up quite a few things in Florida, it does feel good to be organised as all of a sudden it`s there!!!
Thank you Carole. You are right, being organized for Christmas is a good thing.

Thanks for the birthday greetings. Her family party was really nice and the weather was not so cold:) Loved the memes:)
You are so welcome Ruth. I’am sure your mom had a nice time at her party.

I hope your husband feels better soon from that darn respiratory illness!
He is slowly getting better. This had really zapped his strength.

Those charms and bracelets are adorable and your granddaughters will love them.
Thank you Ruth.

Janet I was sorry to hear you became ill on your vacation. I hope you are feeling better and your son too.

Hair appointment was lovely!!! Four hours of complete and utter pampering and relaxation and a new gorgeous style (even if I say so myself) shorter again with a darker shade for winter approaching.
It is so nice to have a pampering day at the salon.

And a very good morning, November 1st and we have sunshine, a little frosty but it`s a beautiful morning.

Good morning to you Carole.

The temps fell yesterday after some rain. It now feels like Fall here.

I did have my Halloween Party for the family yesterday. Albeit it little bit of a strip down version. I had not planned to have it until hubby looked at me and said what are we having to eat at the Halloween Party. So I scrambles for a few days to pull everything together.

We had Crab Rangoon dip, pretzels and cheese, pizza, Italian hoagie’s, chili, taco’s, chips and salsa, hot dogs and fruit.

For dessert
IMG_2574.jpeg

And punch
IMG_2575.jpeg

Everyone had a good time and I sent plenty of desserts home with everyone.

Now to de-Halloween the house and get the Christmas decorations up. That might take a few days. Will have it done sometime next week.

Hubby is slowly getting better. He still tires very easily. He was happy to see everyone yesterday evening.

We had a few more Trick or Treaters yesterday. Grandson was handing out the candy when the door bell would ring. I heard a group of little ones singing “Trick or Treat smell my feet give me something good to eat” to P and he was laughing and giving them candy.

I give out full size candy bars and the kiddos are so happy to get those.

I made treat bags up for the family with some goodies too.

Our next door neighbors yard people showed up at 7:30 this morning and started with the loud leaf blowers. What happened to being courteous to your neighbor’s…….oh well.

I have a pedicure appt today. Looking forward to having happy feet.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone doing whatever makes you happy.

Hmm must be the early hour for service this morning, Robo. We had, by 7:30am, our one neighbor is having his roof replaced, and I guess their workers are as early risers, as we heard a huge boom truck came. Had to take a peak, as was a louder truck that went up our street when they first arrived.

Hope Mac’s crew shows up soon.

Very light drizzle we have had. Did errands at around 8:30, and DH said he’d like to go with me, as car needs gas. So, in a little while, I’ll get his wheelchair out. He does pretty good getting himself in and out of the car. Think I’ll wait to closer lunchtime, as can go out to lunch with him, or go through a drive through with him.

Kids called, they enjoyed their Halloween concert last night and were on their way to their next destination, a 5 or so hour drive. They are going to a hockey game this weekend, as was older one’s birthday wish. Bought him and her jerseys to wear at the game. Told them safe travels. And a hehe, little one does most of the driving, and said it’s nice things to see as they drive along the mountains, rather than bland looking Ohio roads.

Ah, so enjoy this lazy Friday I am having.
