Something About Nothing............ #14

Busy morning!!!! I wish the casual gal was here. But I got most of it done now.

My back for some reason is killing me today. I have a massage booked again for next Friday. I am really looking forward to it! I found a new lady - who is AMAZING!!!! She also seems to have appts that work well for when I am able to take time away from work for appointments. I do try to be considerate - and book my appointments for when it is slower in the unit. Thursday and Friday afternoons are typically not as busy.

Watching some youtube videos on Epcot food & wine. We will want to try a few things while we are there - but ds's don't want to spend the whole day there. So if I know ahead of time what I think/know we want, we can hit them up as we go around.

34 days :cheer2: and counting!!!! I am soooo stinking excited lol I don't know who is more excited - me or ds's.

lol....excitement is catching Pumpkin!!!

Hope the back feels better for your camping, and yes, you`ll be looking forward to seeing your lady next week!! I know I`m thrilled with the Physiotherapist I see, he is a wonder!!

Schumi… will take you up on that offer!

Today was too hot for me.
100 temp kept us inside all day.

A few minutes ago temps have dropped to 80.
But at this time of night, no plans to venture out.

We have central air so can’t whine about the heat.

Grocery store shopping tomorrow.
Our pantry has nothing fun in it…

I positively must get up at the crack of dawn in the morning and hit Pubix for food shopping . neglected food shopping the past 4 days due to the heat

ugh for a saturday shopping publix stays packed during the week end.
also need to be up in time for my hair appointment

One set of family of our kids will stop by for a meal
They are not looking for a simple dinner but a 3 course meal.

Trying to set up food they would enjoy for them.
worse case senaro would be the bb joint down the street from us

Will flip a coin to see which place we will do

That is hot!! Yes, you`ll be glad of your aircon, couldn`t imagine not having it where you are, you get the hottest of temps!!!

Yep, the earlier the better for Saturday shopping!!! If we can avoid it we always do. One of the joys of being retired is shopping away from the crowds!

Oh enjoy your visit and I`m sure you`ll cook them a lovely dinner, visiting family is always nice when you can have a home cooked meal there. Mum always enjoys preparing food for us when we visit.

Looks like a decent day ahead, as long as the sun shines we`ll be happy, around 70F most of the day but the weatherman on the radio has just said, chillier tonight. Bedding will all be out on the line today for sure.

Light breakfast as we`re having lunch out with Kyle, we have some smoked salmon and shrimp for later as won`t need a full dinner but little nibbles will be nice for a Saturday night. Planning to watch Deadpool 2 tonight with a bottle of wine.

Last day of August!! This month has just flown past.

Have a lovely Saturday :sunny:

Forgive me, I forget when your first trip was?
March 8-15. We have decided to stick with our original plans and book another Disney vacation in a few years after some of the new stuff is complete.

I did order three Christmas presents today, early, but they are perfect for the recipients.
Always good to get an early start. All I have so far is a couple of stocking stuffers.

My back for some reason is killing me today. I have a massage booked again for next Friday
Hope you are feeling better today.

Watching some youtube videos on Epcot food & wine. We will want to try a few things while we are there -
We will be there during flower & garden. I am seriously considering skipping meals and just snacking across the park.

I positively must get up at the crack of dawn in the morning and hit Pubix for food shopping . neglected food shopping the past 4 days due to the heat
I need to do that too, just not at the crack of dawn.

Current situation - sitting outside urgent care waiting for B. She has had a horrible cough for several days and started coughing up phlegm last night. She first thought it was just allergies, but wants to make sure it isn’t anything else. No fever or any other symptoms. Now we just wait.

finally completed my grocery shopping…

Lovely!! Always good to get that out of the way on the weekend.

What did you get the family for dinner?

Sounds like a plan!! It`s always good to be settled with what you`re doing.

I do hope your daughter is ok, sounds nasty, but fingers crossed they`ll be able to give her something to make her better.

Another lovely day, sunshine from first thing but definitely chilly.

Had a lovely day with Kyle, lunch was nice and just enjoyed some time together, we`ll see him tomorrow too, he`ll be over in the afternoon after he has run the 10K with some of his running club friends, then dinner with us. Bought some steaks today so will have them grilled outside I think.

Tonight, had some smoked salmon about half an hour ago when we got home, wine has been opened, will pop movie on later through in the big screen room.

Not the best picture, taken through glass, but sunset is getting earlier!!!

I think my husband is yelling from the other side of the house to tell me the movie is about to start.....Deadpool 2!!

Have a lovely Saturday night 🍷

Charade, do clue us in on how your girl is once she sees the doctor.
It’s always a concern when our kids are not doing well.

When my boys were adult age, I did not have peace of mine when they were ill and living solo.
Usually they called me asking what they should do.

You are a good mom and will be there to guide her and contact your doctor’s staff for what step you take now since she is ill.

Good evening everyone. Thank you for your concern for B. She tested positive for Covid. I was surprised since her only symptom is the cough. The doctor said that since she has no fever she is okay to be in public as long as she wears a mask. She doesn’t have to work today or tomorrow, so she will be staying at home.

I am at home watching our football game. Tonight is closing night for To Kill a Mockingbird, so I don’t expect to see dh until late.

Schumi….. forgot to tell you it’s chicken for this evening.

Hard to beat chicken for a family meal!!! Hope everyone enjoyed it and you had a lovely evening together.

Hopefully in a few days she`ll be back to normal, glad she doesn`t have a fever and can get out with a mask on if she has to go out.

Hope your husband enjoyed doing the play and had a good last night, I always admire folks that can go on stage and act, it`s a gift for sure.

Yep, September has arrived!!!

We didn`t get to bed till around 2am this morning, watching movies will do that!!! So slept till around 9.30 this morning, looking at the weather it`s going to be a lovely day, but where Kyle is running the 10k it looks miserable!!! Runners can run in anything though and never complain, he`ll still enjoy it.

Doing a rib of beef for dinner tonight, will make up a red wine and rosemary sauce although Tom won`t have any sauce with that he thinks it doesn`t need it, but Kyle and I like a little dippy sauce, also garlic and rosemary roast potatoes and some veg, whatever we pick up this morning.

Just finished some French Toast with bacon and some fruit, won`t need lunch now as it`s much later than usual. More tea I think though!

Happy first day of September :sunny:

Robbie, your t-shirts are fantastic!
Have not seen them until now.
Thanks for sharing them for us!
Thank you Mac.

I hope you enjoyed your chicken dinner and your company.

I`m sorry to hear your aunt passed Robbie, doesn`t matter the age, it`s still always so sad to hear of a relatives passing. And yes, it is sometimes the only time you see relatives. I have cousins all over the UK and beyond and there are so many of them we never get to see them all at the same time, even at funerals, not everyone can go, it`s very strange. Even with my siblings, I see them all when I go to Scotland every time, but didn`t manage to get us all in the same room at the same time this past trip again, last time was a funeral.

It was a nice service. She was a wonderful Aunt. She always had a smile on her face. Always enjoy seeing the extended family. I heard rumors of a family reunion. Would be nice.

Love the tee shirts Robbie, they are very nice.
Thank you. Thought I would get a couple of light weight T-shirts for the trip.

lol....our kitchen is open to most folks!!! Plenty of room too, that dish is one of my favourites, I adore brie and cranberry together!!
I’am sure a lot of folks enjoy getting invited to your kitchen for a meal. I like cranberries too. Very yummy in so many dishes.

Janet`s lovely and very talented granddaughter celebrates today and I know she will be having a very :bday:
Thank you Carole of reminding us of the birthdays on the board. It is always nice to wish someone a Happy Birthday.

Janet I bet you are putting on a wonderful party for your granddaughter. Happy Birthday to her.
IMG_4240.gif

Got a pain in my knee on Monday night, so managed to get an appointment today, I do think it`s easing already but I didn`t want to leave this when it could have got worse, especially as our trip is so close.
Carole hope your knee feels better soon. Sounds like you are in good hands for your treatment to heal things up.’

23 tomorrow, can’t believe it, and she’s taller than me. Which isn’t hard to do. lol
Happy belated Birthday to your daughter Lynne.
IMG_4242.gif

My condolences for your loss. Nice to reconnect with family. Just wish it was under better circumstances.
Thank you Charade. She was 93 and she had truly lived a nice life. She was a wonderful Christain lady with a heart of gold.

Physiotherapist appt went well, no damage to knee, some good manipulations from him and some exercises to do for a week alongside ice/heat treatment. Glad it was an easy fix.
Good news.

We have Elise for a couple of hours this morning, so I think we`ll bake unless she wants to do something in the garden, she loves nature including all creepy crawlies which I`ll never understand, but she enjoys rooting around to see what she can find, I`m hoping we bake!!!
That is so cute. Our granddaughter M loved looking at bugs and her brother P wanted nothing to do with them….LOL…Little Elise sounds adorable.

It is always hard to loose a family member - no matter how old they are. May the memories you have comfort you when your heart is sad.
Thank you that is so sweet.

I'm soooo famously graceful - I twisted my ankle last night walking out of work. Just tripped over my own feet while trying to grab my sunglasses out of my purse :rotfl: I"m sooooooooo graceful!!!!!!!!!
Pumpkin hope your ankle feels better soon.

Found the picture she took.....my files are all over the place!!!
You might have a future photographer on your hands.

We really enjoyed them. Especially, the 2nd on Tuesday as all the annoying bloggers/invited guests absent. Both nights were sellouts, however, the 2nd had at least 1/3rd less people overall
So nice to hear you all had a good time. When you get rested up share some photos or maybe a trip report.

Sorry for your loss
Thank you Janet.

We had a look at the fruit trees yesterday, they are starting to flourish, but definitely not as abundant as last year, plums are starting to show a yield but less apples than usual and the pears are a lot smaller than usual, guess this isn`t going to be a record yield for us. We still have the farm come pick them and take anything that`s there, they go to make pies and chutney`s which is nice as we always get a few of their products.
The squirrels and deer consumed everyone of our peaches and apples this year.

I am pretty much packed and ready to go for later today. It will be me and ds hitting the road in my Lola - dh is biting at the bit and wanting to leave earlier so he is leaving just after lunch. I'll wait for ds to be done work then we will hit the road. DD wants m eto make one last stop at a grocery store for one last idea she had for snacks - so I'll pick that up on the way out of town.
Hope you had a great camping trip.

Hope everyone is well this Friday afternoon. Marrow bones 24 hours into simmering up some stock for demi glace later. DW and I are planning to accelerate phase 2 of our semi retirement as we're both a little dodgy healthwise. We've never worked a traditional schedule but now we're going to vaca a little more. Marrying her and starting a business together ranks as one of my smartest moves for sure.
Sounds like a wonderful idea. You will never regret it. Go out and celebrate life.

You sound like you are getting the same temps we have here. I wish it would cool off just a little.

The doctor said that since she has no fever she is okay to be in public as long as she wears a mask. She doesn’t have to work today or tomorrow, so she will be staying at home.

Ruth I hope you are feeling better. Continued prayers for you.

Been busy doing some needed things around the house. I have one of my trees of up for Halloween. I’am going to try and get my pumkin tree up today or tomorrow.
IMG_4231.jpeg

It is funny decorating for Halloween when it is 100 degrees outside. We are supposed to be getting a reprieve from the heat for the next few days. The trees here are starting to change color like Autumn is starting, but it is hot.

I have some loose ends to tie up for the my upcoming trip. My littler sister K is coming with me again this year. She is so fun to travel with. We never tire of things to talk about. Although we do have a habit of encouraging each other to shop…hence why she is talking about bringing a bigger suitcase…..LOL..Our older sister D is picking us up from the airport so it will be fun for us all to be together again. There is definitely going to be some sister celebrating this trip.

We held off on buying plan tickets as there were some things that needed to be sorted to make sure this trip could happen. I was not sure if I wanted to drive or fly. Hubby talked me into flying, but Allegiant changed the time they were originally flying until late in the evening from the original afternoon time when I first looked at the schedule weeks ago. Some of the airlines have become somewhat unpredictable.

Need to get moving this morning. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone.

Good Sunday all! We finally got back on Saturday before day break lol. Longest connecting flights ever. Will be some time before I visit anywhere that requires that.

Started @ 10:30 am PST on Friday. Flight took its time to take off, missed the 1st option to connect in Denver even tho I had allowed 1:30 hr between fights.

That’s why I always make sure there’s one more flight out of Dodge to possibly get us home, still…you never know until you land if they will actually find a seat on the alternative flight as all the A, B & C’s get first dibs on seats. Turned out to be a half empty plane :)

There was a rather high door frame @ the hotel in Anaheim. Lugging my suitcase out the door, gave it too much “mustard”, the nearly 50# bag rolled over the top of my foot that was in a pair of birks.

Not sure if the pressure//altitude contributed but foot was double in size. Just swollen and bit sore today so assume I just beat it up lol.

Today is the ‘lil’s BD party. Have the last batch of wings in oven, made 6 dozen plus. Doing various varieties: dry rub, Buffalo, Asian & Garlic Parm options. Will finish French bread pizzas off once all get here. Veggie trays, salad, pasta salad, corn on cob and the cutest girlie cake :)

Charade - your poor daughter! Hope she has a mild case and feels better soon. Is this her first go-round?

Sounds like a wonderful idea. You will never regret it. Go out and celebrate life.
What a lovely sentiment

AJ - enjoy the weekend with the Mrs.

Beautiful!
Some of the airlines have become somewhat unpredictable.
To say the least! Doesn’t seem to matter which airline, all having their share of issues with delays.

Carole - good luck on the knee!

Pumpkin - just say no to mosquitos when camping. Crazy how west Nile has just exploded in the US???

Ruth - almost better from the fall?

Mac - company still in the house? You’ve had a busy summer with house guests.

Lynne - do u keep a bug out bag going or are you starting to assemble things for the trip?

So many here getting ready to go play in MCO over the next few months. woohoo

Time to go take the wing’s temperature. Always seems weird, trying to find a spot to stick the probe lol

Thank you Robbie, yes the knee is improving and almost back to normal, I trust this young man, I say young man, he`s in his early 30`s, but he is very good and highly recommended among the running community, so that`s good enough for me!!

Your tree is lovely, and yes it seems to be much earlier that real trees are turning autumnal, we noticed in early August that the change was starting, just seems so early.

Welcome home and hope your GD`s party went well yesterday, I`m going to guess it was a huge success!!!! Food sounds lovely as always, that is a lot of wings, but I know they`ll go down well, love the selection of flavours you offer!!

Ouch on the foot!! Hope it`s improved and not swollen anymore, that does sound painful, it`s never a nice light case we do something like that with!!

Well, we ended up having an extra nice day yesterday. Kyle did fabulously in his run and beat his personal best for that race which he was pleased about, then he asked if we wanted to go to the Mercedes showroom as he fancies a new car, he, like us changes his car every 3/4 years, so time for a change.

And he bought one! Another gorgeous AMG, it is a stunning car indeed, and he`ll get it within two weeks as they have two of them in the UK that have just come off the boat!! So happy for him.

Then back here for dinner and we watched the race as we have it recording and enjoyed a rather lovely rib of beef, I think we ate far too much of it, but it was beautiful. After dessert, Kyle headed home and we had been invited to a friends home, so we spent the evening with them, so, a rather lovely day.

Not looking forward to today, I have the dental implant appointment tonight, not a fun couple of hours but will be glad when it`s over. I have plenty of soup made up, will have that and ice cream next few days till it heals.

But, plan to enjoy some bacon with poached egg and a decent lunch that will keep me going till tomorrow morning!!

Have a lovely Monday :sunny:

IMG_3566.jpeg

Hehe, so nice to be lazy today, after a food coma from our extended family bbq last night. Pool was 91 degrees. And kids from 4 to 12 in there. Fish, they were. Also were excited to see the little, bright green toad that was on one of the large umbrella’s one panel as it was opened. Muggy hot day it was, and full sunny day we have today.

Marvelous Monday all.

Change of plan is always fun!!!

Dentist called early doors, the implant part that gets drilled into the bone hadn`t come in, so appointment is now Wednesday, if for some reason it doesn`t come in by then, it`ll be after the trip!

So what do you do when plans change....shop!!!

Tom went volunteering and one of my friends and I had a blitz on a dozen stores and came home with absolutely nothing lol...well, I did buy a new tablecloth for the kitchen table, very little house on the prairie according to my friend Sue, I like it!

Winter clothes are everywhere, so much brown this year and some olive green, neither colour I wear very often if at all.

Off to make a cuppa, chicken skewers for dinner later with some veg skewers and salad, simple and tasty!

Good morning/almost afternoon. I didn't sleep well last night, so ended up waking up very late this morning. Thankfully I don't have to work today. I am the only one in the house not working.

Yep, September has arrived!!!
Yay! It should start cooling down soon. I think this week we are going to have temps in the high 70s.

I have heard this strain of Covid is amping up everywhere.
So far 9 people I know personally have come down with it.

I have one of my trees of up for Halloween.
Cool tree.

Ouch! Hope it is much better today.

Today is the ‘lil’s BD party.
Happy belated birthday to her.

Charade - your poor daughter! Hope she has a mild case and feels better soon. Is this her first go-round?
Yes, this is her first time with Covid. Thankfully it is very mild. Her only symptom is a cough.

Well, we ended up having an extra nice day yesterday. Congrats to Kyle on the race and new car.

I'm going to do a load of laundry and then be lazy for a while.
