Something About Nothing............ #14

A bit of fog this morning which surprised me when i got up this morning but it should burn off soon.

Mr Mac and cats went back to bed this morning and I was able to get the weekly laundry done with out all my helpers .

Went to Taco Bell last night but they had an unexpected closing
No problem as hit a real mexican restaurant just blocks away from the interstate.

Tonight I cook red meat as we both like steak.

Drop on by to my place and will be looking for you!
Bring your appetite!

Love steak......good steak is hard to beat!!

Sounds like you had to do a change of plans, but glad it worked out.
Today, I was going to go to town by myself!! and have a nice time out on my own. Roger usually goes with me since he's retired, and I am not used to that at all. So, I was really looking forward to going to different stores and browsing at my own time. I said "was", because I went to one store, HObby Lobby, and when I came out to the car the low tires light came on. Grrrrr....... So, I cut it short and brought the car home for Roger to fill the tires up.
Oh well, there's always another day.
I don't know if I told you, but I make doggie blankets for newly adopted Bichon Frieses dogs. It's the breed we had and I love them. I have fun making the little blankets and sending them off all over the US. But I really miss my Scruffy:(.

We had roast beef sandwiches for supper last night and they were good. I just didn't feel like fixing a big supper.

I always wondered what book clubs would be like. I don't think it's for me, because I'm kind of set in my ways and I only read suspense/detective stories that have quirky characters. I read a lot of Karin Slaughter because I love her characters.

Enjoy your tea, and take care,

ruth

Oh how cute!! They are lovely dogs and I imagine the blankets are lovely.....I`m sure folks really appreciate them, what a lovely thing to do!

book groups are social too which is why I love them so much. We are a good group and get on well, only three of them I would say I am very good friends with, the others are friends and some I`m just friendly with and we don`t see each other out of the book group.

I read other books throughout the month, not just the book group one, so I get the best of both. My mum loves Karin Slaughter books and similar. I have read some books I`d never have chosen normally, some more succesful than others......lol.......I`m reading some chick flick books right now....Jane Green is a fabulous writer, love her style!!

Off to start dinner....hope you`re doing good Ruth........

Hope the appointment tomorrow does not get canceled Carole.
There are times I set aside all plans for a doc appointment and it fizzled to many days later.

Tomorrow we take the cats to the vet for their check up and shots

Totally dread it…
Mr Mac has to cat herd them into carriers and they scream the entire time
It’s a two person job

I hope not too, I did tell him if he wasn’t great tomorrow I’ll be ok to change to Monday or whenever suits him best, these things happen.

Oh good luck with the kitties tomorrow……that doesn’t sound fun! And hope you enjoyed those steaks…

Been watching the Murdaugh Murders on Netflix! Wow.

Had never heard of them till recently.

Looks a cold one out there tonight, will be tucked up cosy for sure! At least the rain has finally stopped.

Heading to bed soon, yawning my head off again.

Ack, forgot my phone at work, so back I went. DH called me 4 times. I guess whoever was near my office heard my ringtone. Yep, potter music.

Ooh little one is back with Chinese food. Yay, dinner time.

My Mom is following those trials closely, too. I have never even heard of them before, but she keeps me informed.
I could get hooked on them pretty easily:)

At least you knew where your phone was once you were back home..

I go nuts if I reach in my purse and phone not in it
and backtrack my steps until I find it

Incidents like this age me…..

I had to read back in the thread to find out what trials you were talking about

Saw it was netflix you posted about.
We don’t watch any of the paid subscriptions on the internet

I just watch some series of the old Law and Order which has been around for years

Hello all. Quick late night post from me. I am about halfway through my research paper. I just needed to take a break.

I don't know if I will be able to do minimal hair products
I can't do minimal hair products. The downside of curly hair. Have a great time in Vegas.

The kids had bought me a Lego flower bouquet for Christmas. Little one decided tonight would be a good time to build it for me.
Sounds cool. I would love it see a picture.

Despite the rain and cloud we did get a bit of clearance last enough, enough to vaguely see the Northern Lights a little. It`s the first time they`ve been as far South for a long time, we have seen them before though down here, last time was a few years ago, but again, very vague. One newspaper reported they`re not visible with the naked eye......I beg to differ as do many others who saw them.
I'm envious. I would love to see the Northern Lights. A friend of mine wants to go to Alaska to see them. I am not willing to brave the cold.

We had a bad thing happen not far from here in a housing community just about 5 miles away. A large Alligator said to be 11 feet long and over 700 pounds killed a 85 year old woman. She was walking her little dog at the edge of community waterway and the Gator went after her dog and got her instead.
How awful. We used to live near the Everglades, but thankfully never encountered an alligator.

My sister and brother in law sent me a Hogwarts lamp to go with my WWOHP collection. It is really cute
Love it!

Hubby is having his first cataract surgery Thursday he has been putting this off awhile and researched some local eye surgeons here so he found one he liked. This has been in works for a month. I’am impressed at how thorough they have been leading up to the procedure.

Son is having test done on Friday. Should know something then. Praying that all goes well.
Hope all goes well for both of them.

WV partially lived up to it’s billing for GD (wild and wonderful), again #2 overall
Congrats to her.

That’s a win! Glad you caught the mr needed his seat arranged too. National news today stated cancellations are supposed to be rampant (again) this summer.
Ugh! Not what I wanted to hear.

Finished the book of the month for our book group last night……The Scarlet Letter……
It sounds like y'all are going through my high school summer reading lists. I remember reading that one. Didn't care for it.

Tomorrow we take the cats to the vet for their check up and shots

I sympathize. It takes both of us as well.

Hi Kfish!!

I should get back to my paper.

Happy belated birthday to Robo.

I am sure your break time is now over and you are back working on your research paper.

I know you will get your work in way before it is due.
You are very focused on your degree.

We will party with you once you have finished school
I will make cupcakes and we will all celebrate with you!

I had seen the show offered on Netflix, but thought it was a movie, but when I found it was real life, absolutely watching that. It was very interesting.

I enjoy watching those, although not sure enjoy was the right word for some of them, Casey Anthony who I believe was guilty as sin walked free, George Zimmerman, Michael Dunn....and going back many years the first one I watched was one of the Kennedy`s on trial for rape. The Casey Anthony trial was one where I never missed a minute of it. It started 2pm our time most days, so I was sat at the laptop watching live every day. I made dinner when they broke for lunch....our life revolved round that one as I dind`t want to miss a second. So, yes, I agree it`s easy to get hooked.

I like the Law and Order episodes with Jerry Orbach, he was a class actor.

Netflix does has some very good shows and movies at times, certainly plenty of choices!! I still maintain we don`t watch a lot of tv, but there are some things we do catch on it.

Hi Kfish!!

I should get back to my paper.

Happy belated birthday to Robo.

Yes, they are beautiful and we don`t see the complete effect down here, just a glimpse, but one day we will go back to Norway and see them, although Iceland to see the midnight sun is another that we`d like to see.

I`m quite lucky I enjoy most books in some way, but this last one just didn`t appeal. I think our next one should be a fun one!!

A virtual party is a good idea!!

Another cold one here this morning, not much going on today at all. Will pop into the fishmonger and pick up a whole salmon we have ordered from them, they have it in two side fillets, boned and gutted for us and no head. Yes, I could make fish stock but we don`t really have fish based soups or sauces often enough to bother.

Going to try and get back to scanning some real pictures, I don`t think I`m ever going to get through them all, but I will try. Then maybe this afternoon I`ll do some baking for the weekend.

Doing a Thai beef curry for tonight, made the base of the sauce last night, will put it all together tonight and make some coconut rice to go with it, it`s the only rice I really like, but still don`t have much of it. Curry should be hot and spicy!!

But, tea first........trying some new tea again this morning, smells nice enough so far.

Have a wonderful Friday ☺️

On this Fabulous Friday, please send the ark. That storm that gave others that cold white stuff, we get an abundance of rain, heavy at times, starting at dinnertime, and raining all night into ending tomorrow morning. And hehe, my phone remembers where I go, so it keeps flashing red flag warnings for Orlando. With all this rain today, I’d be happy to be as dry as Orlando has been. And of course, much warmer too.

But as said in my early weather news, the weekend is looking nicer, with 50’s the high. Woot! It’s March. Our usual month that has weather that is mostly on the cooler side, but more Spring like warmer weather comes along more and more as we go into April.

Flower show for the women this weekend. We have a great time, with my sister, little one and me. Free parking at the train stations on weekends. So we meet up in the close to me train station parking lot. We are all looking forward to it being back indoors, as last two years was at a city park that for us, was not very easy to get to, and to far away, to visit from where we live.

Ah a happy homie. Up in that almost wee hours, started screen viewing, as thankfully that twice at office yesterday, was enough for me. In my over 30 years of working, the virus showed me how much more to be as productive teleworking. That quality of life towards the end of my career is nicer now.

So, get ready, wonderful weekend is loading up, thus have a Fabulous Friday today.

Have a cocktail for me when you arrive.......:)

So, went to visit our friends with the horses, we did plan to stop for an hour, but we`re only just home and it`s 4pm. Arrived there about 10am, spent some time with the horses, but it was so cold, we came back up to the house and they said we`re staying for lunch, so we all pitched in and made us up a lovely lunch. Out of all my friends her fridge is always the fullest no matter when you drop in! Tried not to eat too much as we have curry for tonight, but we might leave that now!!

We did have some sparkly too which was very civilised indeed for lunch. It was lovely though, we always laugh a lot when we get together and it`s nice when it`s just the four of us at times.

Back home and a dozen emails to answer!

No plans for tonight or the weekend really, it`s just cold, no one wants to be going out at night yet.

Need some tea now I think........

We have zero power due to the storm
My area is in the black and expect it to be so for some time.

Think I have enough phone battery time for about 3 more hours.

With the wind issue in my area, we won’t be high on the list for electricity.

Hope all stay safe
Check in when you can.

Rain is now gone and time to come out and play!

Glad it’s all over for you…..your storms are quite spectacular where you live.

Ours aren’t as impressive, but sometimes when they’re out at sea right in front of us…..wow……I love a good storm. But we never lose power with them thankfully.

What a lazy night. Chatted to my mum, one of my closest friends called, then one of my godsons called for a favour…….we can’t say no to him!

Now thinking about an early night. It’s barely 10pm, but I’m yawning my head off again. I blame how cold it is outside, and so cosy and warm in here.

Curry was lovely, not too spicy, just about right, we both enjoyed it.

Ideal Friday night……

Ooh Mac. Hope you got your power back, if not already, then soon. We have had rain since around 4 this afternoon and will be raining all night. Phone says until 4 am this morning. So far, we have had just a little bit of rain, saying less than even half an inch, though over an inch of rain to fall before it departs early tomorrow morning.. The streets were wet. At least not windy, when we were out.

Little one and I did a Target run, around 5 this evening, came out of store and was hailing. Very little pieces, but as we drove home, only a drizzling rain. And ooh the deer were out. Good thing they stayed on the side of the road. Looked like teenage ones. The new, spotted babies should be coming soon. They have to grow and fatten up for our winters. We have large white tail deer.

For dinner, little one made a delicious steak we picked up from butcher store on way back from Target. Made it into two pieces, half cooked medium rare, other half cooked medium. I like mine almost mooing, so ate almost all the medium rare piece. She also sautéed these fresh bought multi colored carrots, and medium size tomatoes, sliced in quarters. Add some white rice from last night, perfect dinner. And for lunch, fried up some ground beef, put it in chicken broth, added the white rice from last night, as we did have quite a bit, added a can of sliced carrots and chopped two stalks of celery, and beef rice soup, eh had no chicken, with crackers. Ah, quite good eating food today.

Big old pot of tea for me. It’s that kinda night. Older one should be home in another hour or so. Then with alarm off, will be a later night for I think all of us.

Ooh phone just said light rain coming in next 20 minutes, to end within the hour. Guess older one will be driving in the rain on his way home.

Have a most restful night all.

And ooh Kfish, good to see your post.Hope all is good, and my same named boy as you will be 26 this year.

Finally, hope Pumpkin has a safe trip and a fabulous time.
