Tonight when our outside lights went on I noticed our reindeer were toppled over . . .I had DH go out to check it out and they weren't just knocked down they were physically pulled up and moved.

I cannot understand why someone would of done that . . .we live in a quiet neighborhood and for someone to do that means that they walked up the side hill (we live on a corner, but that side isn't flat) and either tried to steal them and gave up or just wanted to screw it up . . .

I am very angry and DH is going to move the sleigh and reindeer to the backyard tomorrow. Imagine someone having the gall to walk up on someone's lawn and mess with their display.

We just had a story in the paper about people doing that here... Just hook up the reindeer to a car battery & watch those perps jump!:hyper:

Sad to hear it happens to you too. We had some teenagers creatively rearranging our reindeer last year. I won't describe in detail here...imagine they were being posed in a way that only teenage boys could find humorous.

The first time it happened, I tried to not over-react, as my DH was made enough for both of us. However, as it happened repeatedly over a 2 week period, and they damaged one of the reindeer, even my good humor couldn't take it.

We were up way too late one night wrapping Christmas gifts when we heard something out front......I still laugh thinking about my husband bursting out of the front door and screaming and chasing the too-old-for-that-sort-of-thing boy away. His get away driver (I told you they were too old to do this) took off without him.)

.....they never came back!!

I have had this happen a couple of times. I have lights ringing the yard, and once in a while, kids will pull a starnd out, etc. Not much you can do about that. Most of my figurse are plastic, blow mold type. I drill a hole on either side of the base, and run a chain through them. Then, I use stakes on either side, which holds them down in the wind/rain, etc. Then, I secure the chain to a fence pole I place in the ground. Some of them, I wrap the chain around a tree, and lock them up. I have had them try to move, but they don't get to far, and it is nothing to put them back in place.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but this story cracked me UP! LOL! I don't, of course, think the fact that they were eventually damaged is funny at all, but the rearranging? OMG. I wish I had been there to see it!

This must be a common thing...Every morning I notice quite a few "X-rated" reindeer on my drive to work...It gives me a chuckle, but I guess if they were damaging mine..I might look into that car battery trick!

 I'm so sorry that people are messing with your decorations. It's just not right to mess with Santa's reindeer.

This does remind me of a neighbor of mine, whose problems I am NOT really sorry about, though!

We have a neighbor down the street (thankfully, way down the street) who really goes overboard on the yard decor. Lots of lights, lots of lighted-wire figures. LOTS- I mean more than his yard has room for. They spill over into the neighbor's yards... It wouldn't be quite so bad, except lots most of the stuff isn't really Christmas related at all.

He has a herd of Texas longhorns (4 or 5 of them, with orange lights.) Now, I'm a University of Texas alum. Go Longhorns! But I really don't have any desire to fill my yard with burnt orange longhorns at Christmastime. Or any other time.

Lighted Cacti. A Santa. Different kinds of lighted trees. Various signs. Lots of other stuff. It really looks like a big , cluttered yard sale- it's not like a sweet little display with one related theme. And it's all just jammed everywhere... He actually rents a storage building year round just to store his Christmas yard decorations.

Anyway, the neighborhood kids (I suppose that's who it is) creatively rearrange the longhorns every year. In a "romantic" way. Every year, he gets furious and calls the police. Every year, they come and dutifully write up a vandalism report. And, I imagine, every year they drive away shaking their heads in a amazement at this tacky nut and how twisted he gets about his cows. :teeth:
