Someone took our (rented) ECV!

But it can't be in a place that blocks access for others, which is what I was stating. That's why they get moved - they are not in the right spot to begin with. Once we were in a pile-up in the Haunted Mansion exit hallway because no one was moving the ECVs out of the way in time. Too many in the hallway, no one could maneuver, and those walking out had to go single file. If there had been a fire, people would have gotten hurt or worse. ECVs can't be left wherever people want them - they have to be out of the way of the traffic flow.

But they also move them when they are parked properly. Our ECV was moved once during our recent trip. It was properly parked in the marked designated roped off area area and moved a good distance from the original location.

When you find that a properly parked device has been moved, typically it's because they are continuing to shuffle strollers, wheelchairs, and ECVs to manage the size of the "parking lot".

This is one reason why I suggest people add something simple, inexpensive but memorable to their ECV - so that you can tell the CM "Hey, I need help getting the scooter with the rainbow-stripe ribbons; it's been moved, and I can't walk that far". A CM is more likely to remember the rainbow-striped ribbons than the fact that they are looking for a Jazzy Pride Elite Mover-Scooter Deluxe with a basket, know what I mean? 😉 My friend @kaytieeldr puts a t-shirt over the seat back to decorate hers, but you can invest as a little as a dollar for a colorful bandana from Wal-Mart and "mark" your ECV for greater visibility.

Not that there's anything wrong with that ;) But you're right. People can't just leave their medical equipment "wherever." If something isn't where we left it, and seems too far away to retrieve, ask a CM for help.

Walking single file past equipment is much slower than walking freely in a group - it did cause a back up. Not sure if they had to stop the ride at that point, but people were stuck in a bottleneck in that hallway.

I also want to add - if you leave an ECV in the wrong spot, others will see it and start leaving more ECVs and strollers there too, causing more issues. One incorrectly parked stroller can lead to a pile up! :)

I figured they were consolidating the "parking lot". Or rather the contents of the lot, as the ropes were all still there. They just relocated what was parked.

Fortunately my sister was with me as she spotted it before I did once we started looking for its new "home".

that is one thing, but I have seen CMs tell guests to park ECVs at one place and then move them about 500 feet away and I am not talking about moving so it will be at the exit of a ride. Or where an ECV is completely out of the way and a CM moves it where it is now in the way and another CM moves it way far away from the original spot. These are the incidents that are unfortunate, because the CMs don't stop to consider the impact on the person that needs the ECV.

Great suggestion! That's why I always have a big pink bandana tied too it. I tie it to my luggage, then when I get to WDW, I untie it and tie it to my ECV. The only potential problem there is the possibility that it might disappear from my luggage, then I won't have it for my ECV.
