Hey everyone!

So last year on my solo trip I went to see Cirque andthis year I was thinking about going to see Blue Man Group while at Universal only I have no idea what it is?

Anyone been and would you recommend it? I am traveling solo but that shouldn't put me off right?

TIA

I can't say for sure how the show is at Disney, but many many moons ago, my husband and I went to a show in Vegas. I loved it and so did he. I don' t see why traveling solo would be off putting at all while attending the show.

Have a great time!

check out the BMG website to get a better idea of the show.
pull up some of the past threads in this forum to read about others ideas and time at BMG

i have done the show solo and had a grand time.

I went with DBF because he said he really wanted to go. There were parts of the show that I really enjoyed, and there were parts of the show that just made me uncomfortable.

I do understand that is is "performance art" and a lot of it is done to garner a reaction, but overall it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Blue Man Group is fantastic! I'm going to HHN in September, and will be seeing the show one night during my stay.

As far as what the show is....
I guess "performance art" fits. Music, video technology, crowd interaction....
Really, BMG sorta defies classification. You have to see it for yourself.

I'm curious to know what about the show made you uncomfortable?

I'd like to know, too. ????

I LOVE BMG. Seriously. We did the "Bluephoria Lounge" VIP experience, which gets you two drinks in a private lounge before the show and then a meet & greet with a Blue Man after the show. It was awesome!

We had front row seats both times we saw them, and it was so very fun. Highly recommend. :-)

Disclaimer ahead.........I'm definitely in the minority with this opinion.........lol.......

I hated bmg and thought it was boring and pointless. Will never do it again. I maybe had too high an expectation as everyone had told me it was wonderful, amazing.......it goes on........husband and son weren't keen either......Woman few seats along from me fell asleep!!!

Loved Cirque when I saw that though.......but don't let being solo put you off doing anything like that.......

I LOVE BMG.... if the las vegas crew would do season passes for locals, I'd go at least once a month.
I agree that if you're not familiar with them, check out youtube. The music isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I love listening to them.
I love their ability to get everyone laughing, without ever saying a word.
I'd go solo in a heartbeat.....

We saw the BMG in Vegas recently and loved it! Definitely hard to put into a category as its unlike anything I've ever seen before. At its worst moments it was still entertaining, and at its best it was simply mind-blowing.

I can't really imagine what about it would make anyone uncomfortable, at least not compared to the other shows we saw in Vegas, lol!

I'm not really a fan of anyone in my personal space, and there were a couple of times they came out into the audience and right in your face, so I wasn't thrilled with that.

There's also a scene where they, I don't know, spew? half eaten Twinkie, and then re-eat it, and I'm sorry, that almost made me puke. I'm sure it wasn't REALLY regurgitated, but still grossed me out.

Everyone has their own opinions though, and as I said it just wasn't really for me.

Put me down for the "We love BMG" group and we have seen them in multiple cities. We went to Cirque this year and it was fun, but I have seen near the quality at the circus for an eighth of the price. I have not seen anything close to BMG anywhere!

That being said, I love loud music, a huge fan of percussion, and laugh hysterically at someone catching 20 marshmallow's in their mouth at one time. The beauty, drama, strength, etc. of Cirque is appreciated, but on vacation, I want insanity. It is a personal taste issue.

We loved it! But I will probably wear ear plugs when we do it again, I'm pretty sensitive to really loud venues. DH and I went without the kids, but we can't wait to do it again and take the teenagers.

Do you think younger kids would enjoy this too? My kids are 6, 9, and 12 and are interested in seeing it. Thanks for the info about the noise - if we do it we'll bring headphones for our youngest who has some sensory noise issues.

There were quite a few kids there. Like everything, it really depends on the kid, but mine are kind of wild and crazy so they will think it's great. It might be too much for your 6 year old. There is so much happening with the lights and sounds, it is definitey sensory overload.

My kids were 4 and 11 and both loved it. My 4 year old does get scared by loud noises and was covering his ears for the first few minutes, but he quickly became so interested that he forgot about it and didn't have any trouble.

Eh. It was just ok. I had somewhat high expectations. My boyfriend had gone to the one by us (NYC) and had a great time. They sat in the poncho section and said they got splashed and whatnot. So we decided to go at Universal and got seats in the poncho section. I liked parts of the show but others were boring and we didn't get splashed at all which is disappointing when you are sitting with a poncho on for the entire show. I wouldn't go again.

Cirque at Disney was great though. I really enjoyed that show even though I was incredibly tired from our flight down. We learned our lesson and we don't plan anything for the night we arrive.

We took our kids (ages 9 and 11 at the time) in January and they LOVED it. My husband isn't a huge fan of shows, and he loved it, too. We were in the poncho section, and didn't get much on us, but it was great being so close.
