Someone sitting out

You probably got all the info you needed, and I know this won't be a popular comment, but here it goes.

Our family went to Akershus. The Princess parade and photo ops were fantastic! We got seated early and the service was great. However.....we didn't like most of the food. :( Out of our whole family, only 1 is a picky eater, but all of us found most of the buffet food to be quite different, and not in a good way. I am Norwegian and really looked forward to it and so thought I would love it.

I didn't want to say it "out loud" because it's such a popular place to see all the princesses. We had dinner. Maybe breakfast or lunch would be better. Out of all the places we have eaten at WDW, it is our least favorite (regarding food). So I really wouldn't recommend it for a picky eater. {head hanging low because just hate to say anything negative}
I only go for breakfast.

Me? I would force myself to order SOMETHING and pick through it before I would let 2 dining credits go to waste. That's just like throwing $75 out a window. I mean if that sounds ok to you then have at it.

Maybe look at the allergy friendly menu. Maybe there's something on that.

So you like he breakfast? Do they have all the princesses there at the breakfast meal as well as dinner?
Yes. Belle is in the entryway, and then the rest are circulating. I thought breakfast there was the best breakfast we had, and that was during the short time there was no cold board offered. To be honest, the entire experience was much better than CRT, and I am a CRT fan.

Thank you for the advice I will definitely try that :)

We took my great nephew on a trip a few years ago. He had just become a "Disney adult", but had a very small array of foods he liked and would eat. We would ask for adult sized portions of chicken nuggets with sides he would eat. One meal he wanted a burger, mashed potatoes and plain pasta. It was absolutely no problem. If there are sides you do like, I would do the same thing. At least that way you won't be too hungry!!!

Happy Birthday to your tiny princess!!

Is it possible for her to pay out of pocket for just herself and order a kids meal for just herself?

Are you able to bring in food if you don't like the food at CRT???[/QUOTE

I imagine you can bring in anything that you like, however you will be charged as if you ate your meal there. This is one expensive meal if you have a picky eater who cannto find one thing on the menu because, like any other fixed price meal, you enter? You pay.

You could probably bring in something, but they're still going to charge you the 2 TS credits or you pay OOP. You can also ask for any of the entrees without the sauce or the sauce on the side. They have steak and shrimp. Do you not like steak?

She will have to pay the adult rate for that child meal. CRT is a prix fixe. Adults pay the price they pay.

Since it is a pre-paid experience I'm sure you could but you aren't going to get your plate for free. They'll charge you for the meal and then if you don't eat it and eat whatever you brought in that is on you. Still going to get charged.

No. Adults pay adult price. A baby under three can eat off of that plate, but will not be served a child's meal at a children's price. Honestly this is one meal that you really need to balance cost with experience, because it is expensive. Personally, with a baby, and an adult who cannot find anything that appeals, I would skip this restaurant. T close to 75 per person I would want to eat. There are too many other restaurants to choose from to suffer through a meal you do nto want just for Princesses in a Castle. There are two there castles that are nice, and one is chock full of Princesses.

I don't like much meat at all... chicken nuggets is about as far as I go lol

Years ago they use to let you not order but charged you for the "entertainment" if there was really a reason why you were the only one in your party not eating at a character meal. You may want to call dining and inquire about this. They may still offer but not advertise it..."entertainment fee" I believe is the term they actually used

I agree that breakfast is the best time to eat at Akershus, because they serve American food at that time.

All diners over age 3 must pay at a dinner show or character meal experience.

I think the word "diners" thee the OP.

All people in attendance will pay based on their age.

Probably not OK. I think Jady was saying she *would* do it if it were allowed.

I would strongly recommend that gnocchi if it is still on the menu. I can be picky but it was GOOD.

I would not count out not eating there though...all venues are very accommodating for changes and substitutions. If you are intent on keeping it, after you look at the menu to see if there is anything you would eat (they do change from time to time) or if there were anything you would eat from various menu options, ask the waiter if they can do it. Like if you completely do not do like meat but there are a couple of items that are sides on the entrees (potatoes, veggies, etc..) just ask if they will give you a plate with that on it. My son will refuse any veggies and potatoes of any kind...except fries (ya, I know they are still potatoes and he is 17 and an honors student and I still can't convince him they are the same thing!) so even at a couple of places where fries are not a part of the menu he has been able to get them instead. A couple of times the kids (now 17 and 12 but have been going since the 17 year old was 2) have not really been thrilled by the menu and the wait staff has said "tell me what you want and I'll get it for you". Now, you can't count on that but if this is a must do, you don't necessarily have to pay and not eat.
