I woke up this morning to one of my cats throwing up (sorry TMI)..so I freaked out and immediately ran to the kitchen to see if he was hungry (and just had reflux) and he usually inhales the food...but today he sniffed it and walked away...well I then inspected the house and there are a few other places of "accidents" so then I am freaking out and thinking the worst like maybe he has an obstruction (my moms cat died a horrible death due to this)..so I of courses made an appointment to go to the vets, and I sit here trying to figure out what it was....so please pray for my baby boy...any advice, or anything that will help me stay calm...

BTW he is acting a bit "tired" but still kneads the blanket next to me, purrs when he is next to me, and rubs against my legs....

Thanks for listening....

Calm down...doesn't automatically mean he has an obstruction. He could have gotten into something which makes him throw up (I have one cat who chews on an artificial plant, then spits up all over the house). I have another cat who threw up everywhere, took him to the Emergency Center and spent $700 just to find out he was CONSTIPATED!

Unfortunately, cats do tend to throw up a lot, for a variety of reasons. I'm sure your little guy will be fine and the vet will figure it out quickly.

I'm sorry your kitty is sick. It could be something as simple as a stomachache. That said, I would have called the vet, too, though.

Is he drinking? I wouldn't worry too much if he's not eating, but if he's not drinking, I'd be a little more concerned.

Please keep us updated on what the vet says. A sick furbaby is very sad, because they can't tell you what's wrong. Hugs to you and your kitty.

Thank you to both of you.. I wish I wouldn't jump to the worst possible thing....I am thinking he has a stomachache..my furbabies are my kids...

You did the right thing and called the vet. There are plenty of reasons why a cat would vomit, try not to assume the worst of them

:rotfl2: You beat me!! I took mine to the vet because I thought that the kids hurt her only to find out that she was in heat. :lmao:

I am sure that your cat will be fine. I know that you will feel better though once the vet looks at him. :)

Thinking of you. My cats are my life so I can't imagine how you are feeling. It is good he is still wanting to cuddle. No chance it is a new bag of food? Do you give him hairball meds anyway? My cats seem to go through hair ball phases-weird.

When is the appointment?

OMG, I did the same thing once! My poor cat was older, and one morning I woke up and found him asleep on the couch. I went into the kitchen and he followed me. When I put the light on, he slid onto the floor on his belly and gave off this awful moan/yowl sound. I thought for sure he was dying. It was a Sunday, so I woke everyone up, threw everyone in the car and headed off the emergency vet. Two hours later, they told us he was constipated and they gave him an enema. :scared1:

Yes, mine too-----and NEVER take a cat home after they have given him an enema.

He is now on a fiber food and Catlax....yep, a laxative or cats!!

OP, how is your cat??

((Hugs)) - let us know how the Dr's visit goes.

Update: First off thank you for all the well wishes.....we went to the vet and she did a fecal exam and sent off some labs..she said he had some formed soft stool in his rectum, so she got out the little bit she could...she sent me home with stuff to help his nausea (she also gave a shot of it at the office), and meds to treat a possible infection and said he will be fine.... I still was very upset, but when we got home he pigged out, like normal, then I had to take him and the other cats to my moms house because we are going out of town tomorrow...I was upset about leaving him but my mom will take care of him tonight then the pet/house sitter will take care of him...but I bought him some fancy feast dry food and he at about a 1/4 cup of it, so that made me feel better...my mom got the meds down him thankfully....so I will worry my head of about him but I am sure he will be fine....thanks again for all the well wishes... I will keep you posted...

If your vet says he will be okay, I'm sure he will be! Glad you got him to the vet before you left town, so it will ease your mind just a little. Heck, I worry about mine whenever I'm gone...I leave quite a book of instructions for the catsitter!

Why is it that cats always decide to get sick right before a trip?? :confused3
Sounds like he's going to be just fine. Try not to worry too much and have a good trip!

Glad your cat is doing better. I know I have a dog who tends to get sick alot and I know what it is like to worry

I thought the same thing... I was thinking to myself why couldn't you have done this a week ago..lol..but I am glad he is OK

I talked to my mom this morning and she said he is acting his normal self..he ate breakfast and he took his meds (with a little fight) but at least he ate...that makes me feel real good...
