What is the whole dvc. How where do you stay, how much does it cost, if you buy credits off someone else, and you stay on disney property, can you do free dining also? Where all can you stay?

Nutshell: DVC = points based timeshare. If you are interested in staying at the DVC resorts but don't want to purchase the timeshare, you would rent from a member. There are a lot of perks to DVC properties. You would book your dining plan and Magical Express through the DVC member. I hope I got your current questions. Check out the DVC Rent/trade board if you'd like more info. Otherwise Disney has it's non-DVC properties you can stay at as well.

As the pp said, DVC is timeshare, a la Disney style. You buy into DVC by purchasing points which are then exchanged for your stay. You can buy into any DVC resort either directly (through DVC) or resale (any number of companies such as the sponsor of this forum). Buying into DVC is a long-term financial commitment and not for everyone. Beyond buying in, you can rent from a current DVC member instead, and you can get the dining plan if you do. As for where to stay, you can stay wherever there are points to rent, and I'm fairly certain that any of the DVC resorts have owners willing to rent points. The downside of renting is that you have to work through the owners to make many of your reservations including at the resort. Check out all the DVC threads, read, and then ask more questions if you have them.

And when you make a reservation using points (either as a renter or as a member), you're not eligible for free dining. Disney requires you book a room at rack rate through them to get "free" dining.
