Our trip is in early Dec. Will the regular FP system still be available? We are traveling with 13 people and I just cannot wrap my mind on how that is going to work with FP+ and 2 seperate reservations... That is just too much to me to process. :lmao:

I'm pretty sure FP will still be there in the winter, because FP+ and Magic bands haven't been completely released yet. Also, I did a bit of research and there hasn't been anything saying exactly when FP will be taken down, so it's unlikely that they'll get rid of FP very soon. I don't know for sure, but this is what it seems like to me. Have a good trip :)

They're calling the old system "legacy fastpass." Keep that in mind if you're reading articles. I haven't heard anything yet about if or when they are going to discontinue it. I have heard that you can book the FP+ in kiosks in the park, so that could be an option for you (if the kiosks are still there).

MagicBands aren't needed to convert from legacy FP - only RFID cards are.

They've been getting paper tickets converted over and haven't forced AP holders to convert yet... but they can.

What is needed is to get FP+ up for same day visitors... get kiosks marked on maps, be ready to re-educate all those who aren't on MagicBands. Clearly they want to get all the resort people on MagicBands before they convert the offsite guests and day visitors from legacy FP to RFID card FP+.

Disney executives--speaking to investors--have been saying that the entire MyMagic+ system will be up and running by the end of the year. It could be as early as November 1st, as they are currently scheduled to "test" the system at all resorts by the end of October.

Once it's fully implemented, you may not have the option of using the old legacy system. They may need to keep the FP machines in the parks to service day guests still using paper tickets. But guests at Disney hotels won't have paper tickets or KTTW cards...they'll just have Magic Bands. And you can't get a paper FP ticket with a Magic Band.
