Someone just stole my bird hat

A piece of lake scum and i were just trading she told me that she would trade me her minnie for my bird hat and casey jr. pin. I thought i was getting a good trade, but she told me that she was going to add more. so she gave me lots of not rare stuff. I didnt say anything and i traded her. i should have checked the trade. she took out the minnie hat at the moment before i clicked the box. I dont remeber her name. this trade doesnt even compair to mal's loss but im still upset.

when anyone changes items in trade the box will appear saying exactly what was changed Ie: xxxx has removed Princess hat if you wnat to continue re confirm trade, so to continue the trade you must re-confirm trade as directed , so not so easy to scam this way anymore that is unless you dont pay attention to screen since it takes two confirms for trade to go thru and more if trade items change. Always read the screen before continuing trade

i know but i meant that she kept adding stuff that i didnt know that she took out the minnie so i just confirmed. i shouldnt of trusted her.

actually it doesnt say anything anymore right? not if its removed before you check the box. This was all changed a last month or so when all the changes came in. The text box, now just has what we type in it, no items listed.

I guess the best way you could have protected yourself was to ask her to remove the other stuff you didn't want, so that you could see she was trading what she said she would.

Other than that, take the accept button SLOWLY. When you hit accept, scroll through the trade window to be sure all items are there, THEN you can hit accept the second time to confirm the trade.

I think half the scams are easily done because traders are too eager to click the button quickly.

I heard of this scam before many times. It's not a new one. I'm sorry you were scammed like this!

I agree with Lori though...it's so important to carefully review the trade BEFORE you finalize it by accepting it. It's very easy to do that when you're only trading one or two items between each other....but this step becomes vtial when you now have a bunch of items. A big red flag here was that she was throwing in items that weren't orginally discussed as part of the trade. You should have spoken up and asked why she was putting those all there, or asked her to remove it and stick to the trade. Bottom line, though, is that reviewing your trade before you accept it is so important...keeps your eyes open and you're less likely to be scammed out of things.

Another thing I do is make sure I write down the names/dates/rooms/times of ANY trade I do. That way, if anything bad were to happen, I have the information ready to go and send off to VMK. I also sometimes take screen shots of trade windows. If the trade works out ok, I discard my information.

Those cruel people... I wonder if anyone knows what VMK is really about? Having fun and making friends. An escape from the real world.. Not being mean.

well i hope they do get in to trouble but i cant expect much because of the lack of knowing her name, so i guess they got away with it this time. i will always take a screen shot of the trade from now on. I just hope they can find her.
