DS had a sleepover last night to celebrate his 12th birthday and one of his friends (or friends sleeping bag) smells to the point that I gagged when I opened the door this morning. I'm going to have to open the window in that room all day and wash every bit of fabric in that room to rid my house of the smell. I have two dozen people coming for Christmas. OMG, I'm mad!

Sorry, had to vent!

ah yes, that pre-teen funk.....caused by not bathing......good luck to you!

Are you sure it's only 1 of his friends. Could be the combination of all of them. There is nothing like that smell of too many pre-teens together(luckily theres nothing like it).

Well, one of the friends just left for a basketball game and I sniffed him on the way by (I can't believe I just typed that!) and he seemed fine. You may be right. I didn't notice anything in particular as they were arriving and they came individually. Yikes! I just had to make them close the door cause I could smell (the smell) all the way down the hall. I'm getting a little green around the gills, if you know what I mean.

It's that pre-teen boy funky smell. My DS11 showers daily and washes up in between as well. He still gets a little ripe. Heaven help us all if he raises his arms!!!!:faint:

Mad, your posting mad me laugh out loud. I'm certain your DS would appreciate you letting all of us know that. However, I think all of us mothers of pre-teens can sympathize! (sp?)::yes::

Sorry if I have to laugh- this is a running joke in my house now. I have a 17 year old and a 13 year old boy, and have survived many ,many sleepovers. My house constantly smells like "boy", a combination of stale Doritos, spilled sodas, dirty socks, gym bags.....

teacher, there's about 4 bags of microwave popcorn in there too! One bag is an inviting smell, but once you're over two bags, oh boy!!

you better watch out snffing the boys, if someone sniffs me I take that is a sighn that they want me

HaHaHaHaHa, Popdaddy, I'm trying to think of a witty comeback, but everything I think of is a little too off color to put on a disney chat board!

I guess I'll just say, "I better be careful, I really wouldn't want any of those little stinkers thinking I want them"

I once drove a van with 8 teenage boys and their gear to and from Cape Hatteras. The ride should have taken 6 hours but for some reason it took us 11 hours. I finally had to yell, no more gassing in the car. Oh man, it was a bad. There was one boy in the group who I actually told to shower before he got in the van for the ride back.
His friends don't have to sleep over for it to smell. They just all have to go into a bedroom and take their shoes off. Sometimes I've gone into their room and said, don't you guys think you should open a window. I can definitely understand.

I'm willing to bet it's the group effect. There's one room in our school that's smaller than a usual classroom. When it's just boys in there, :earseek:

Nothing like the smell of a bunch of sweaty pre-pubescent boys.

I remember having to ride with car windows down after baseball/basketball games with about 5 in the car. OMG - i had my head out the window a couple times.

They thought it was a riot!

i guess you're all right about the group effect. Once I got everyone outside to play I stripped the bed, vacuumed the floor and opened the windows. Then I used Fabreeze on the rug and everything was fine. DH didn't even notice the smell when he got home from work at 1:00 pm. However, I can still detect it slightly in there. Oh, well... I made DS take a very long shower and scrub himself anyway!!

I think now I'd better investigate the sneakers stacked in the closet. There must be 5 pairs in there and I can just guess...

Everyone at my house smells but none of us stink ;)

I remember when Travis was that age and YIKES the fragrance was less than pleasant at times.

The worst is picking up your son the wrestler, when he was at a meet with no showers available. Or maybe a friend or two need a ride also. Peewwwww..

OMG my sons are only 10 and 4 and neither of them stink. Is this what I have to look forward to? YUCK!  :faint:
