We were at a banquet last night in Kearney and couldn't get away, so the couple we were with called thier daughter in Lincoln to pick up tickets for them. I was going to have her get a few for me, but thought, heck -if it is a winner, I will never see it anyway .

Anyway, she lives off-campus, so the U-save on the 100 block of O St. is not out of the realm of possibility!

Seriously if I ever won (HA) the plan would be to find a way to let as few people know as possible. Yes they publish the info but if you keep your mouth shut you can usually do damage control.

It would take me a while to claim my winnings because I'd be interviewing lawyers and financial planners/advisors. Either that or recovering from the heart attack I'd inevitibly have should I ever win that kind of money!

EVERYBODY would still find out. Did ya ever see the A & E show about what happens to lottery winners after they win? People were getting hundreds of requests for money.... and these folks tried to remain private.

Except that as part of the agreement you have your name published. Just deny it was you and unpublish your number!

Your "family" would suddenly grow as unknown relatives suddenly show up.

I saw an interview where one guy did try to change his phone number right away. The CSR told him it would take 2-3 days for the change to go through - that is until he said he just won the lottery. Then they changed it in, like 10 minutes.

I'd be too afraid to wait on bringing in my ticket. I'd be afraid of being mugged or something & losing the ticket or having it stolen before I could officially claim it.
