I'm trying to figure out if we should add the DDP to our trip. It will be two of us, staying for four nights. I'm trying to decide between that or TiW (I have a Florida resident AP, so I would use it beyond the trip). I originally thought doing lunch at TS would help with the cost, but now I'm not sure, especially since my sister and I are likely to eat a LOT (her more than me. She has a quick metabolism due to her illness and really needs to eat a lot). This is what I have so far:

Thursday night arrival:
ADR dinner at Sanaa

Friday:
Breakfast in room and/or POFQ food court
ADR lunch at 50's Prime Time
Dinner counter service

Saturday:
ADR breakfast at Crystal Palace
Lunch counter service
Dinner counter service

Sunday:
Breakfast in room and/or POFQ food court
ADR lunch at San Angel Inn
Dinner counter service

Monday:
Breakfast in room and/or POFQ food court
Lunch counter service

We'd have to do at least one counter service OOP. Please help me with the math! For counter service, I'd only be able to do TiW at our hotel or at AK, and frankly, this whole thing is making my head hurt. Please let me know if this would be worth it for us! If it helps, she's likely to want to buy breakfast at the hotel since she eats big breakfasts especially (she eats less at night, hence another reason for the ADR lunches), and I can only provide so much in the mini fridge.

I'm desperate for Disney math help!

TS and CS breakfasts are almost always bad deals on the ddp. So your Crystal Palace breakfast would be a wasted credit. It is also pretty hard to get ddp value at the Prime Time cafe. So I'd suggest just going with TiW. With the 20% savings, you could even eat some cheap TS meals, for the price of about a cs meal.

Would it be better if we changed Prime Time and San Angel to dinner? I really want to keep Crystal Palace, but maybe we should do another TS that day too and just do CP OOP.

if you go to Downtow Disney at all you may want to consider WolfGang Puck express for counter, you get more bang for your dollar on the diningplan counter service meals there.

Naw, I think you're right. Unless we eat dessert at every single meal, it seems kinda silly. I'll still mull it over a bit, but I think TiW will ultimately save us more. We could probably save around $100 total if we go with TiW.

Without running numbers, your itinerary does not look ideal for DDP usage.

Typically on DDP, you'll want to stick to mostly TS dinners with maybe a couple lunches thrown in. On a longer trip, a breakfast or two won't hurt all that much either (this is assuming that the other meals are planned to make up for any loss on breakfast that day). I'd also suggest TiW/OOP for the plan as it looks like you'd be spending quite a bit less than the DDP cost.

One thing (which you likely know) about TiW though, is that it's not accepted at very many CS locations. I still think you'd come out ahead even paying full price at them though.
