Hi,
Can pictures saved in a folder on my computer OR on a website (such as snapfish) be transferred to an SD card --- (so that it can be used in a digital frame)?????

Thanks so much!!!

Folder on your computer will work for sure.

Pictures on websites, particularly ones that want you to order from them, often don't allow you to right click and save to your own hard drive. You'll just have to see if snapfish is one of them.

There is a way around it if you can't right click and save, but you get a second generation picture, IMO, and sometimes it's not as clear. You can get a screen capture type of program and screen capture the picture from that site. It's possible to do this; discussing whether it is ethical (due to the limitations on some sites) is another matter.

If you use firefox you can get a plug in called down them all and it will download all the images on the page or the images that the page links to in case on another server.

Or try download helper

I bought DW a digital picture frame and installed pictures that were previously downloaded to the computer back onto the memory card for display.:thumbsup2

You can also set Firefox to not allow websites to use Javascript to keep you from right-clicking an image, which is there to try to stop you from saving it. I always do this if for no other reason that I use mouse gestures that mean that I right-click and drag to go "back" rather than clicking on the back button, and I hate those annoying copyright nags. A couple sites have them come up even if you disable it, but it works for most.

Some will also hide the pictures as a background, which you can't right-click and download. With these or the "protected" photos, you can go to Tools, Page Info, and the Media tab, and save any jpg used on the page, no matter how it's protected.

Now, whether or not you should load up a picture frame with photos from other's site - that's a whole different topic and one which I certainly have no interest in discussing. But on a technical level, it's virtually impossible for a web site to keep you from getting a jpg. (Those that do use things like Flash animations, so you're stuck doing a screen capture if you really want them.)

I have done this numerous times, transferred from my PC back to my SD card to use in my digital picture frame and also on my TV(has a SD card slot).
I went and bought a cheap $10-$15 USB card reader (RadioShack, Best Buy, Staples, etc.) and then you can use your SD cards just like an old school floppy and not have to transfer back and forth with your camera.
