We are going Jan. 7 (checking in late that night) and staying through Jan. 17. How can I work it so we can get free dining for at least a portion of the trip??? Jan. 7 and 8 are blacked out. So....should I book a room only those two nights and a package starting on the 9th???

How does that affect our tixs?? We already have one day tixs from our last FD trip last September (09) that we were going to apply to the cost of our tixs when we got down there...how does that work too??

Someone who knows how to work the system....please tell me how to make this work?? It is by far the best money saver for our family (dh, 6yrds, and myself) b/c we love to do the character dining!!

PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks!!!!

Not an expert by any means but I think you have it. Book separately for Jan 7 and 8; use your one day tix you already have for one of those and get another one day ticket or have a day that is only at resort or downtown disney?? Good luck!

You would have to book separately, and the second reservation would have to be a package with tickets. You cannot apply existing tickets to the price of package tickets. Depending on your resort level, it may work out better to take the room-only discount, upgrade the tickets you have to the length you need, and just pay OOP for food.

We are staying at the Pop or at the Car. Beach....just depends on how much a difference in cost is! :) What do you think?

I believe I've read here that it's possible to get package tickets for park entry up to a couple of days prior to check in. If that's possible, I'd do room only for Jan 7-8, then package with free dining for Jan 9-17, and try to pick up your park passes early on Jan 7. (Then save the 1-day tickets you already have for a future use.)

I also agree with the PP who pointed out that depending on your resort level, the room discount might be the best deal anyway. Assuming you've done the math and free dining is indeed better for you, I'd look into getting your package passes early.\

Edit: Here's the link to the answer - you can get passes up to three days in advance: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25022943&postcount=15
