We just got back I can Assure you( I'm not offended) 
that there are plenty of fun pins to trade for! We had a bunch of pins, don't know much about them except my kids didn't like the characters,and they had a BALL trading with the extremely nice CM's!
My younger ds loved the cuties(I know what they are now) and it sort of agonized me a bit to see him trading a big gorgeous pin for one, but he got what he loved,and that's what we did it for! by the time we left, they had lots of great pins with their fave stuff on them- during one parade, some higher ups were walking around with lanyards at MK,and we asked to look,and they told us that all cm's around the parade route had just gotten new lanyards,all good ones! that was fun- all cm's were more than thrilled to trade with us- and i got a couple of keepers myself!
We don't trade with anyone but cm's- as it's not about"value" it's about collecting something that gives us a smile......
So don't worry- you'll have a blast!
