Some Washington DC questions, touring **return update, page 3, #35**

Dan,

I'm glad you were able to make your trip even though I was looking forward to meeting Marie and having dinner with you guys and John & Sue. :)

Hi Dan. Glad to read your trip report. Growing up in Maryland so close to DC, I forget how it looks to visitors. And now you know the heat and humidity with live with every summer.

Chick and Ruth's is an Annapolis landmark. Did you know that they say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning there?

Sounds like, except for the fall, you had a great trip.

Hi Dan!:wave2: I enjoyed reading about your trip to the DC area. Went three times with the kids on their school trips, but haven't been there in years. Would love to go back in the near future. Sorry to hear about your fall, and glad you were okay. Hope all is well with you, Marie, the kids and grandkids.

Hi Dan! Great report. Hate the power outage caused trouble. Glad you got to eat with Miss Judi (yes, I do.. ;))
I wanna go to WDW in December...

Hope your knee gets better quickly. :) Hunter wants to be an orthopedic surgeon...hang on for awhile and she'll fix your knees up for you! :)

For those of you who actually stayed at the westin, could you share your opinions of the hotel and area? I have read some very mixed reviews. Some say close to metro lines, others say too far. Some say it's dark, dated, and dirty. Others loved it. Thoughts?

Which Westin? We stayed at the Westin in Old Town Alexandria. It was a very nice hotel with reasonably sized rooms, nicely appointed. The food was grossly expensive in the hotel restaurant. It is about 6 blocks from the metro stop but an easy walk. When we were there they did not have free internet. If we were to go to DC again, I would probably NOT stay at this hotel, mainly because there were no free meals and it was as expensive, if not more, then other similar quality hotels that did offer free breakfasts at least. If we were to go back again I would stay at the Embassy Suites in Alexandria.

We stayed at the Westin Washington, D.C. City Center. It was about 2-3 blocks from the Metro. To us it was neither dark, dated, nor dirty. We thought it was really nice.

The westin Dan mentioned staying at ... City center. Tahnks though! I heard similar comments about this hotel too.
