Some vacation ideas needed (maybe Disney?)

*LENGTH ALERT* This got long before I realized it--sorry in advance!


I love Disneyworld pretty much more than any place on earth. I have travelled all over the world to some pretty amazing places (Greece, Egypt, Japan), and I've had a wonderful time. However, I love WDW the most.

I'm applying for this job right now that IF I get it, means a pretty hefty salary (at least compared to what I'm making now as a part timer) and it means we won't be moving out of state. IF I get it, I want to go on vacation during Spring Break, and I had already declared that I want to go to WDW.

My DH commented over the winter break that perhaps I might consider going somewhere else, as when we have kids (in the next couple of years,) WDW will probably be our yearly trip, or at least we'd go A LOT. And, he and I have been to WDW a number of times in the last few years, so we've been without kids He also said that of course, since it was my "reward" trip, if I still wanted to go, he'd love to as well--we always have a good time.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized he was right. I might be pregnant next year, and I'm sure there's plenty of places that will have to be put on hold until the kids are at least in their 10's.

Which leads me to the question.....Where do we go? Europe (like Germany or Austria or Prague), Cantral America (like Belize or Coasta Rica), somewhere neat in the US we haven't been (Chicago or Washington DC). I am open to pretty much any suggestions, and neat place you've been that might work for a couple in their mid-20's. We are not lie on the beach people or big partiers, but we do love active vacations and picture taking

We took a 2-week guided tour of Italy this past summer. It was amazing and I fell in love with the country. If you enjoy trekking thru ancient ruins, visiting museums and appreciate fine art, I can't think of a better place to go. Rome by itself is just too awesome for words. I would have loved to have spent a week just touring it. Almost everyone spoke English but they appreciated our feeble attempts at Italian. We plan to return in a few years, maybe renting a villa in the lake region or in Sorrento. If you haven't been to Italy yet, I would definitely recommend a vacation there.

My favorite trip outside of Disney was Ireland. My in-laws had rented a cottage for a month and let us stay with them for a week. We had several nice side trips to the Burren, Connemara region, and toured the area around Newgrange. I recommend at least 2-3 weeks.

Brussels was kind of intriguing---we stayed overnight (as part of the airfare miles deal for Ireland) and did a city tour before our flight home. We wished that we had a chance to spend a few more days to explore the city and day trip to Luxemburg.

I haven't travelled as extensively as you, but I have been to Costa Rica. I think it is very different from the places you mentioned. There is an active volcano, the rain forest, the cloud forest, beaches, lakes, and more.
