I am very excitedly planning my first trip to SSR!!! I drove by it a few days before it officially opened long ago and now I am thrilled to be staying there in April!!

As we all know the 'search' feature is just lovely... and although I found a lot of answers, but I couldnt find the following...

We are staying in a 1 bedroom. Are most of those lock off's? We also requested Smoking. Which buildings/views are smoking? Are there Elevators in all the buildings? (I know outside walkways)

Can we hop on any bus to get to the main pool/Dining areas?

How long should we allow for the bus to get from SSR to the Pleasure Island end of DTD... And about how much money would a cab ride back run?

Thanks bunches!

I'll answer what I can.

We are staying in a 1 bedroom. Are most of those lock off's?

They are all lock-offs. The only units at SSR are 2B dedicated, 2B lockoff and Grand Villas.

We also requested Smoking. Which buildings/views are smoking?

I've heard that the first building in the resort to open--in Congress Park with view of Downtown Disney--is all smoking. Makes sense from the standpoint that the resort would have had to have SOME smoking units when it first opened, and it's logical to keep the smoking units grouped together, adding more as the resort grew. But I don't know if that information is accurate or not.

Are there Elevators in all the buildings? (I know outside walkways)

Yes.

Can we hop on any bus to get to the main pool/Dining areas?

Yes, I belive that's the last stop before exiting the resort. Never hurts to ask a driver before boarding, though.

How long should we allow for the bus to get from SSR to the Pleasure Island end of DTD

The ride itself is probably 5-7 minute, but you know how busses go. If you just miss the DTD bus, it could be 15-20 minutes before the next one arrives. I'd suggest giving yourself at least 30 minutes.

WHile you certainly can take an SSR bus to any of the three DTD bus stops (MarketPlace, Pleasure Island, West Side), there's a very nice pretty short walking path to West Side (Pleasure Island would be another 5 minute walk past where you enter DTD)...it's actually a golf cart path that lets you out at the parking lot behind Cirque du Soleil...you pick it up at the GOlf Shop (or by the boat dock) right behind the restaurant/pool complex...it's just as quick to walk from the Turf Club (SSR's TS restaurant) to Cirque du Soleil as it is to walk from Congress Park to Marketplace...

Of course, that presupposes you want to walk...sometimes the bus or a boat ride is preferable...and the bus takes you directly to Pleasure Island, whereas the walk or the boat drops you off at West Side or MarketPlace (depending on which route you take walking)...

Either way is fun, though...SSR is our home and we love-love-love it...hope you have a great time...

All the above info is correct and great.

But ask the bus driver as the Internal / DTD bus sometimes goes from CPark/Springs/Caro/paddocks and then out to DTD.

All others go Caro/Paddocks/CPark/Springs and then out.

Not sure if or when the new section will be into play.

Also depending on the time you can transfer from SSr boat to the PI/WS boat to get to PI

If it's light out we will walk... once it's dark we wont. We are to hot ladies (hardy har har) and beleive in safety first!

Thanks for all the great info!

Congress Park has non-smoking rooms too. I often stay there and always request non-smoking.

If you end up staying in Congress Park, I would suggest walking to DTD. It is about a 10 minute walk to the marketplace and quite pleasant, especially during the spring.

I never said it didn't have NS rooms. I simply said that I heard that one of the buildings in CP is all Smoking-optional. If true, that still leaves 3 buildings that are NS.

The duration of the walk depends a great deal on where your room is located. I timed the walk at 5-12 minutes from building to the DTD Marketplace bus stops. From the bus stop it's about 5 additional minutes just to reach PI, perhaps longer depending upon the exact destination.

I just wanted to throw out there about the boats that when we were there in January, they only stopped at the Marketplace. There is a shuttle boat that goes back and forth from Marketplace to West Side with a stop at PI in the middle. This is different from when we stayed in October and the boat stopped at West Side and then Marketplace. Might not make any difference here, but thought I'd throw it out there.

The springs section is the last stop in the resort before you go to the theme parks DDD, or waterparks. It is right next to the main pool and check in area.

All 1bdr's are lockoffs attached to a studio. The combo makes a 2bdr lockoff.

Most buses make their last stop in The Springs right accross from the main pool and building. There were a few that made the last stop in CP, so you may have to ask the driver.

Buses run pretty regularly and it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to get to DTD or PI. Actually depending on where in SSR you are staying you could walk to DTD just as fast. Or even catch the boat.
