Hello all,

I read this board and found some very great tips for my first trip to WDW since 1995 that I made in March. So I'm hoping to more actively use this wonderful resource :)

I'm considering a solo trip in October (just didn't get to all I wanted to in March). I enjoy food so I'd love to try a number of restaurants, including some of the Signature restaurants. I'm wondering if the Deluxe Dining Plan would be the way to go since I could use 2 of the table service meals each day for that, especially since I don't eat much for breakfast. Would it seem out of place to be eating solo at some of the restaurants such as Jiko or California Grille?

For a trip in October, either second to last or last week, how far in advance do you recommend booking? Right now I'm thinking of staying in a moderate resort like CSR, but might up to AKL or WL. Any suggestions there?

Thanks for any and all advice.

I dined solo at Jiko this past Dec and it was fine. I had a nice table by the window, but you can also ask to be seated at the "Cooking Place" and watch the chef preparing appetizers. I'm making a solo trip down there in May. I'm staying at POFQ and booked the DxDDP. I too am not a big breakfast eater, but have always wanted to try all the Signature restaurants. I'll be eating an early lunch/brunch TS every day, then doing a Signature restaurant every night. I have ADRs for California Grill, Narcoosee, Citricos, Artist Point, Flying Fish, Jiko, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. I also have ADRs for lunch at Le Cellier, Raglan Road, Tokyo Dining, Tutto Italia, Tony's, Yak & Yeti, and Chef's de France. I'm going for the Flower Festival, so plan to spend most of my days at Epcot. The only thing about doing the DxDDP is that with all those TS restaurants your tips can be as much as your entire food budget if you were doing mainly CS.

The good thing about going solo is you can spend your time doing exactly what you want. If you want to spend all your time in one park, you can, if you want to ride your favorite ride over and over, you can, if you want to spend most of your time at the resort you can.

If you go in October you will be there during the Food & Wine Festival. With two snacks a day, you could spend a day or two just eating at the different kiosks. I did that this past Sept/Oct. In fact I used all my snack credits at the Food & Wine Festival. They even allowed the $6.00 lobster roll as a snack credit.

I'd go ahead and book now. If any codes come out later, you can always call and have them adjust your ressie. I'm sure you know that AP holders can now purchase the DDP (that's what I am doing for my May trip). That way you could get a room discount, buy the DDP, and not have to buy a one day MYW ticket, as we've had to do in the past.

good idea to book ahead for your meals. Deluxe plan is very costly you might want to use two of your tickets for one or two special meals.

Yes, I would only go with the Deluxe plan if I decided to use two of the credits together to dine at Signature restaurants in the evening. I wouldn't use any for breakfast (except perhaps once at Boma) and then use one for lunch, probably at a park, and then the other two for dinner at a Signature restaurant.

Another vote for Boma for breakfast. This is one of my favorite breakfast places :)

I definitely will be trying both Boma and Jiko if I go. This March I was at WDW with my mom and we went to Tusker House for lunch. We really enjoyed it and I only imagine that Boma and Jiko would be even more enjoyable. Thanks for the advice :)
