Some Questions

I'm preparing to go to DLR with one-day park hopper for the second time in under a month and, due to my planning for our recent trip to WDW (which was amazing), I haven't done any planning. Of course, we want to see Cars Land and Buena Vista Street, but we also want to spend time in Disneyland Park. Here are some questions I have!

1. When does the DLR Monorail start running? We are thinking about walking to DTD after parking and taking the monorail into Tomorrowland because we really love the monorail!

2. How early do RSR FPs run out? We're planning on spending the morning at Disneyland Park; do we need to plan a quick stop at DCA to pick up FPs for RSR and World of Color?

3. Is it possible to see both the Magical fireworks and World of Color on the same night? We really would love to do that!

4. Any good places to eat dinner at DTD? We are going to have my birthday dinner there!

5. What FPs are "disconnected" from the rest of the FP system? Are the two parks on the same system?

Thanks!

1. When the park opens they will start letting people load the Monorail. It is often delayed a bit as well. It's probably a better option to ride later and ask to ride in the front or rear nose cones.

2. Often around 9am sometimes close to 10am. They go fast and variations have occured when RSR has been closed early in the morning.

3. Yes, See WoC first and quickly go to DL for Magical. DL was mostly be crowded so take any spot you can.

4. Naples, Jazz kitchen Katal, ESPN Zone. The restaraunts in the Grand Californian and Disneyland Hotels are nearby as well.

5. The parks are not connected. WoC uses A sort of FP that is not connected. Roger Rabbit is not connected. California Screamin may not be connected.

1. The Monorail begins running at the beginning of Early Admission, but only for those with Early Admission. For example, if someone had Extra Magic Hour for staying onsite, they could board the Monorail at 7AM, but anybody with regular tickets can start getting in line for the Monorail at 8.

2. I assume you mean Radiator Springs Racers? The FPs have been gone definitely by 9:30AM every day since opening, many days they've been gone around 9. Reports have also said that the line to get a FP has been anywhere between 15 and 40 minutes in the morning.

3. Very difficult. I can guarantee that you won't have good seats for both. If you see the first WoC, and book it out of DCA as soon as the show ends, you might be able to catch most of Magical from somewhere around DL. If you see the Magical from good spots in front of the castle, by the time the show ends and you get over to DCA, many of the good WoC spots for the second show will be gone.

4. I really like Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, especially sitting outdoors. Rainforest Cafe is fun for a birthday but not that special. Naples has good pizza. Tortilla Jos has good Mexican food and HUGE portions.

5. Last time I was there Screamin and Roger Rabbit were disconnected. A recent report said that Screamin might have been connected again, but I will test this out this upcoming weekend.

Monorail starts at normal park opening. Sometimes a little later. If it is a MM then it starts at MM one hour before park opening.

2. How early do RSR FPs run out? We're planning on spending the morning at Disneyland Park; do we need to plan a quick stop at DCA to pick up FPs for RSR and World of Color?
Any time from 8:45-9:15AM. If you want RSR FPs you need to get over there soon after 8AM or they may be gone.

3. Is it possible to see both the Magical fireworks and World of Color on the same night? We really would love to do that!
Theoretically yes but practically no. Only possible way is to see fireworks from near the park entrance and then go like crazy to see WOC and hope you make it before they stop admitting guests.

4. Any good places to eat dinner at DTD? We are going to have my birthday dinner there!
Tortilla Jo's or Naples. Or Rainforest Cafe if you like RFC.

5. What FPs are "disconnected" from the rest of the FP system? Are the two parks on the same system?
RR and CA Screamin and WOC are disconnected, and DCA and DL are not connected.

Thanks for the quick responses! I'll be posting on this forum frequently for the next month or so. One other question: how long do you think it will take to get from the Beverly Hills area to Disneyland on a Wednesday early in the morning? Thanks!

Not sure right now, hopefully someone else can chime in.

Early! Some reports have the RSR FPs running out in an hour and a half. You will need to commit some time to getting the FPs. If you are okay riding separately, the single rider line is a good option if you choose not to get a FP. WOC FPs don't seem to be running out that quickly, but if you want the first show, you probably need to head over there in the morning.

3. Is it possible to see both the Magical fireworks and World of Color on the same night? We really would love to do that!

You won't be able to do both and get prime viewing for both. Is that important to you? You could do first show of WOC and then hightail it to DL for the fireworks, but you would really have to move it and you most likely would not be able to see all the effects. If you watch fireworks first, you would really be taking a chance on a bad spot for WOC.

4. Any good places to eat dinner at DTD? We are going to have my birthday dinner there!

I really enjoy the Jazz Kitchen, but you have to like New Orleans style food. Catal and the Uva Bar are also quite good. There are also the resort restaurants, such as Napa Rose (highly recommend) and Steakhouse 55 (decent). And also the Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar, which would be great for a nightcap!

5. What FPs are "disconnected" from the rest of the FP system? Are the two parks on the same system?

The two parks are disconnected from each other. Roger Rabbit is disconnected in DL, California Screamin' is still disconnected in DCA from last reports, and WOC FPs are disconnected as well.

Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone here on the Dis has watched fireworks from the CCT? I have seen some pics on Twitter and such and it looks like a pretty good view, but I wasn't sure. OP, perhaps look into CCT for a drink or appy and go out on the terrace to watch Magical? I haven't tried this yet, but perhaps it is a good option.

Out of all the Disneyland fireworks, Magical is probably my least favorite. Sorry, but if I had to choose between Magical and WOC, I would choose WOC! :thumbsup2
