We're about to book our first (Disney) Cruise and I want to make sure everything goes well so I have a few questions maybe some of you can help me with. First of all, we just received a quote from Dreams Unlimited for 2 adjoining Cat. 6 veranda rooms (specifically 6120 and 6122) and I noticed that they are right near the elevator lobby. Has anyone had a room near the elevator lobby? If so, how was the noise level in your room? My second question is, what has worked better for everyone, booking air through DU or on your own? I noticed that the quote they gave us is just a bit more than what we would pay on our own, but I know that I can get a direct flight if we book it and we're thinking about flying in the day before the cruise.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks!

I haven't stayed in those rooms, but the room I was in was by the elevators. You will not hear any noise. The elevators are across from your room and inside a lobby.

As far as air goes, if DU can get you non stop, its worth the extra money.

As Mjasp said, the elevators should not be a problem. We've stayed in 7106, right above you, and had no problems at all with noise attributable to the elevators. It was actually very convenient to be that close to the stairs and elevators.

As to the airfare, by having DU book, do you mean that they will book the air through the cruise line? If so, bear in mind that the cruise line airfare includes transfers to and from the airport, so factor that in to your price comparisons. The cost for transfers by themselves is $46/person.

I would definitely get quotes both ways. Flying in the night before is really a plus, I think. Since we live on the west coast, the air from the cruise line includes a night at the Hyatt at Orlando airport. We usually just buy the air package from Disney. It doesn't cost that much more than if we did everything ourselves, and we like both the convenience, and the peace of mind that if the ship were late and we would miss our flight (a rare occurance), then they would be responsible for re-booking us.

We stayed in some rooms right near the elevators-I loved it since it didn't seem so crowded going and coming in and out of the room-(we had that opening for the elevators right outside our door)

We booked our air ourselves-saved a bunch of money-plus I like to know what my seats are way ahead of time and all--had Yourride pick us up at airport (at the hotel) and from ship-that was great since we didn't have to wait for the busses to "fill up" before heading out---we flew in the day before just to make sure that we wouldn't be delayed the day of the cruise---the morning of the cruise, we got to the terminal pretty early -sure we waited a bit before they let us board but it was nice to take everything in-
