I haven't been to Universal since 2012, so I have a few questions.

1 - Are fanny packs allowed on rides? Specifically Forbidden Journey, Gringotts, Men in Black, the Mummy. We have the 3-prong clasp kind. I would love to avoid the lockers!

2 - Are water bottles allowed into the park? We used to bring our own but I remember there being a lot of hubbub a while back where they wouldn't let them go through security, so I wasn't sure what the current policy is.

3 - Are small handheld fans allowed? The battery operated kind, not the old fashioned paper kind.

4 - Are room requests best handled at check-in?

Thanks! :)

1. Yes. You just can't bring them on the Hulk or Rip Ride Rockit.

2. Yes, water bottles are allowed. It was just during HHN that they weren't.

3. I don't see why the fans would not be allowed.

4. I would do room requests earlier than check in by calling the hotel.

Just so you have multiple confirmations :)

1. Yes, as you mentioned the three-prong style, and on some rides they may ask you to move it to your side so as not to interfere with the lap restraint (Gringotts comes to mind). As the other poster said, Hulk and Rip Ride Rockit are the only ones that will not let you have ANYTHING on you except a lanyard with a pass in it.

2. Yes.

3. Yes, I've bought a couple of different types of fans (the square hang around the neck kind and handheld mister fan)

4. I haven't ever done special room requests before other than choosing a type at reservation, but I would think it is best to ask earlier so you can get what you want.

I would also add regarding Gringotts that the waist bars come down quite tightly, one of the times I went on the ride I had a sweatshirt tied round my waist, and the lap bar came right down where my sweatshirt was knotted, I had to very hurriedly do my best to get it out from under the bar, as, erm, lets just say it was in a VERY uncomfortable position!

And the team members really do thrust those lap bars down, so make sure if you are wearing a fannypack or have a shirt tied round you, that you yank it up above waist level before they bring those bars down.

Also, I would always take a bottle of coke/pepsi in with me every day in the morning, EE is great but finding somewhere to get my Freestyle cup charged for the day in that first hour was always a pain, so I always had liquid to keep me going until such time.
