Some questions about renting points

I'm looking into all the possibilities of renting points from a DVC member next summer (yeah, I like to plan way in advance!)

For the first time we'll be dealing with one of our children having turned 18. When renting DVC points, is there an additional charge for more than two people in the room over 18?

Also what are my options if we had five people in a room? It seems the studio and one bedroom accomodate four people. Would we have to go all the way to a two bedroom or possibly get two studios with five people?

Thanks!

I don't think two over 18 is a problem, both would be considered adults. 4 adults are the max in a one br. OKW's one bedroom will have the most sq footage if you will have 4 adults, so I recommend that resort specifically for your party. :goodvibes

No extra charge for more than 2 adults in the room.

The maximum stated occupancy of both the studio and 1 bedroom units is 4 persons plus an infant (under 3). A portable Pac 'n Play crib is provided for the infant/toddler.

MS will not allow more than the stated maximum in the studio. It has been reported that they will allow 5 in a 1 bedroom. However, they will not provide cots, rollaways or extra bedding. 1 bedroom units have a king bed in the bedroom and a queen sleep sofa in the living room. Some members bring an aero bed to accomodate the 5th person.

FWIW, if your children are teens, you will appreciate the 2 bedroom - it has two bathrroms and 3 TVs! And assuming you and your DH share the master, each child would have a bed or sleep sofa to himself/herself - no sharing and no fights, LOL!

Best wishes -

And just so you know, there are no connecting studios. And no guarentee your two studios would be close to one another (they try their best, but there are no guarentees).

Thanks for the responses.

If we have 5, it would be me, DH, DS 18, and DD 17, and my mother. I think the 2 bedroom would be ideal, but that works out to approx. 400 dollars a night, which is way beyond our budget. I think our best bet would be two studios and hope we are reasonably close together. That way my mom could have her privacy and we could have ours. Is a studio basically like a hotel room?

DVC studio units are slightly larger than your typical hotel room but having four full-grown adults might be little tight.
Typical studio set up is 1 queen bed, a full-size sleeper sofa, small bar sink, fridge and a microwave.

The four of us just spent 8 nights in June at Pop Century and never felt cramped for space. That was all four of us in one room. So I think we'd be fine. Thanks for the replies!

If you go with OKW it would $300 a night - OKW is bigger.

I would go with 2 studios at OKW this would be $110 per studio - so $220 for both. Some people think that a 2-bedroom is worth the extra $80 a night - I don't. the 2-bedroom has a full kitchen, a full balcony, plenty of room, king bed in the master, queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. the master bath has a whirlpool tub, shower stall and lots of room. there is a laundry room with a full size washer/dryer. The TV in the livingroom has either a DVD or VCR. OKW doesn't have the combination???

OKW has a different set up - it has 2 queen beds in the studio units.

there is no extra charge for any adult at any DVC resort.

I think I like the idea of the 2 studios better than the 2 bedroom. The two bedroom sounds wonderful, but it's probably more than we need. (My DD says she wants the 2 bedroom)!
