Some questions about APs

Okay... I tried to look this up a bit but I thought I'd ask the experts here and if I need to be directed somewhere feel free....

I still have 5 days left on my non-expiring park hopper.
DD8 still has 4 days lefto on her NEPH.
DD3 does not have tickets at all.

We are going to the parks (staying at CBR) for three days December 20, 21 and 22. I am torn about what to do for tickets for my 3 year old. I've narrowed it down to three choices (the first two from Underground Tourist).

1. Buy MYW tickets for 198
2. Buy MYW NE hoppers 6 day tickets for 330 (for going back in summer)
3. Get her an AP for 430.

We will most likely go again in June or August. My DD8 and I will probably participate in the volunteer program and earn one-day tickets this winter/spring (we do some volunteering anyway and we both like this idea). If we have a longer stay in the summer

So, some questions...

1. Can I even buy an AP for her without buying one for me at this time?
2. Are we eligible for resort discounts and free parking etc. through her AP or does it need to be an adult with an AP?
3. If I do get her one, can I just get it at the ticket window or will it slow down our entry into the park the first day.... do the ticket windows open before the parks? Should I get it right off the Disney website?

Realizing that it is only a $100 difference between 6 day NE and a AP... the flexibility an AP gives would be nice.

I like the idea of not having to worry about tickets for a year but of course the outlay is a bit more. Still, I can see us all changing over to APs since I apparently have no self-control where Disney is concerned.

Any other advice or thoughts?

Thanks so much!

finishing my (upon reading my post ) sentence...

If we have a longer stay in the summer DD8 and I could get APs then and save our NE for another year with a shorter stay.

I hate the idea of putting out $430 right now but it could be a savings in the long run.

Okay, hijacking my own post again :lmao:

So... how about if I buy the most simple MYW ticket for the $190 (made a pricing error before) from UT now. If I use it first day at the park can I apply it toward either a park hopper or an AP and pay the difference that day? I'm having such a hard time deciding.

If you buy the 3 day, yes you can upgrade and pay the difference in price as long as you do it within 14 days of the first use. If you buy it at a discount, be sure to use the pass at least 1 day so you get the gate price applied to the AP upgrade cost. Also, you asked about a childs AP getting discounts. An Adult AP is necessary for the room discounts. I'm not sure about the 10% off deals that the AP gives at some TS, stores and CS. I don't think you can use the child's AP for those discounts, but I could be wrong. The Tables in Wonderland dining discount must be purchased by an adult and I believe the age has to be 21 and over as well for this. I'm not sure about the free parking with a child AP.

I didn't think you could upgrade a used park ticket (non expiring or otherwise) to an AP more than 14 days after first use. Check out Cheshire Figment's ticket sticky on the theme park board.

you can't. There are some FL tickets that can be but not the regular tickets sold to the GP. The ticket has to be upgraded within 14 days of first use like I said.
