Some Poly questions...

Hi,

My wife and two sons (ages 6 & 4) have reservations for the Poly in late June. Here are a few questions...if anyone can answer them I would be very thankful!

1.) I did not request a specific room when making the reservation. Can I call back and do this?

2.) If yes to #1, then what is the best room to request? We have the standard $239/night garden view room if that makes any difference.

3.) Is it safe to call back from time-to-time and ask the CRO to check different codes on rooms at the Poly to see if we can get a better rate? Has anyone ever had a problem doing this? I don't want to mess up our reservation!

4.) Has anyone found a code that gives a better rate than $239 for garden view at the Poly? How much more is concierge at the Poly? Is there a different code to get a good rate for concierge? Anyone that has made recent reservations I would really appreciate your feedback here!

5.) Any other tips for staying at the Poly?

Thanks so much!

:D

You absolutely MUST do a search for Tikiman's site. He is truly the "Big Kahuna" of the Poly and has excellent detailed info.. Have a great stay. We love it there. By the way, you certainly can call back CRO and check for specials(codes) and also take a look at mousesavers.com for a room price comparison with the codes. We are staying in August in LV Conc. on an AP rate which is really not all that terrific.

I forgot to add that we are charter members(ha! ha!) of the Neverland Club and our children are also 4 and 6. This is a wonderful childcare facility on Poly property that your kids will love. You may love them even more if you can go out for the evening on your own.

Thanks Threehearts! Do you recommend a Lagoon View then? How do I request a specific room?

Also, we absolutely have to have a non-smoking room. My wife is allergic to smoke even if it is nearby. Can we do this after we already made our reservation?

thanks again!

Let them know your wife cannot be in a smoking room due to medical reasons.

Yes, you can call CRO back to check on better rates, but you have a pretty good rate. If I were you, I would check out
www.mousesavers.com on a daily basis -- it's cheaper than calling CRO. If you find a good code, then you can call CRO.

You and your family will love the POly!!!!

We are always able to get "guaranteed non smoking" on our ressies because I have asthma. Just let them know they are very accomidating in these situations.

Disney-Kim,

Do you make this request at the time of the reservation? In other words, should I call the CRO back and ask for this? Or do we do this closer to our arrival date?

Thanks so much!

Call them back now. Tell them you have a few requests you would like them to note. Tell them in order of importance:NS due to medical reasons and then whatever other requests. If you can find Tikimans' website, he has wonderful descriptions of the buildings and a good map. Anyone have that website address???? I know that when we go (probably in Nov now) we are going to request Tokelau because it is pretty central and close to the main pool, etc. make sure to make a PS fro Ohana's for dinner (they also have a character breakfast).

Tige- I think that Susy is suggesting that you call now and have them make a notation on your reservation. I also fax the Poly directly 3 days before my arrival with the same requests as do many people. There is some question as to whether the fax is necessary. Be sure to show your kids the Tiki torch lighting ceremony. It was around 6pm and a real kick for the little kids. Picture natives in costume with large flames.... The front desk CMs should have a lot of information on resort activities. If you do a search on the DIS for Tikiman, you can look for his Poly website address underneath his signature. There are a lot of neat things to do at the Poly that are free and fun(you can take the kids to the Neverland Club in the afternoon and they often have free kids activities going on there). Have a wonderful time!

Thanks for the suggestions you guys! My last post was accidently posted twice...sorry for the redundancy. I will call back and have them make a notation of our reservation for non-smoking.

Thanks again!

Tige...yes, I made the request thru CRO and they put it on my reservation. I have never had a problem in 6 trips. ;)

Steve's website is tikiman2001.homestead.com.
